Nov-19-01, 08:58 AM (EST) 2. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" I like, a lot! I bought my dad an HO model caboose of the IT. He say them a lot as a kid in Springfield IL. That will come in handy in the yard that I put in over the weekend in Decatur that was shared by the IT and IC. It services the ADM, Firestone and Caterpiller manufacturing plants. It's 10 tracks that would mostly be filled with tanker and hoppers (like Trouble built). Some coal to service the power plants as Caterpiller and ADM have their own power plants.David Klemm

Nov-20-01, 12:15 PM (EST) 3. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" Great! Now, do you wanna try your hand at Camaro's GP7? He has a nice, non-dynamic version that I've been looking at, but so far it's still sitting on my to-do list. And you're a heck of a lot quicker than I am!Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-21-01, 07:04 AM (EST) 4. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" High nose or low nose? All I can find are high nose pics. Except for the Paducah rebuilt GP10s and 11s.The only GP7 model I have is a low nose, no dyno brake.
Thanks,

Nov-21-01, 09:04 AM (EST) 5. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" Hey Sam,
Any chance I could talk you into doing some in Waterloo livery, which was essentially the green diamond striping but the cab number (1-4) was in place of the green diamond. the Waterloo rwy co (WCF&N) was jointly owned by the IC and the RI, they were later repainted in the IC orage and white

Nov-21-01, 01:51 PM (EST) 7. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" Oh, I should have been a bit more clear. (A lot more clear, actually! :0 )I was talking about an Illinois Terminal GP7 above, not the IC version. (Though I believe that Camaro has a "Paducah" Geep on his to-do list.) I believe that all of the IT GP7s were of the hi-nose, non-dynamic brake variety. That would give us even more power for the IC2 "competition". I can e-mail you the blank hi-nosed GP7 if you don't have it.Now nothing would be wrong with having some hi-nosed IC Geeps as well... And who knows, maybe someone will do a non-dynamic version of the SD39. (Both versions, actually!) I believe those were the last locos purchased by the Illinois Terminal.Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-22-01, 01:59 AM (EST) 16. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" OK. Let me get this straight. They look like the black green diamond era IC except they have the number where the diamond is under the cab? Numbers 1-4?Thanks,

Nov-22-01, 02:52 AM (EST) 18. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" LAST EDITED ON Nov-22-01 AT 03:07 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Nov-22-01 AT 02:52 AM (EST)Sorry Guys!!
My poor punctuation!!! although if I drew many pictures of an Autorack goin by on MANY sheets of paper..It would look kinda cool!! Also Sam, Just for the hec of it.....(hint) there is a pic of the orange and white WATERLOO switcher too!!! To make a WLO auto rack, use the IC font in black letters, take the MILW auto rack pic I sent you and color over the MILW hearald, and in Diagonal put the three letters W-L-O left to right where the MILW logo was. (AFTER making the MILW rack!! LMAO!! )I keep hoping they will put the one up on the Tri-level leads in at Chrysler, but I think it is stored there. It has its doors open, so pics are kinda moot right now. When Jack Haley bought the CCP, I THINK the WLO stayed with the IC and that is how the "new" subsidiary was formed. This was the Cedar River RR. There is also A Cedar Valley RR as well.
All of this was put back into the fold upon the IC-CCP merger.Well, I am back to work now!! If I miss anyone, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!@!Kelley Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-22-01, 06:25 AM (EST) 19. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" Kelley,Man do you know how hard it would be to do that orange and white one?I'd have to take my orange and white ICG switcher, paint over ILLINOIS CENTRAL GULF and the I logo then change the number. That would take me, Oh say, five minutes. Sorry, I am free from work until Monday and I am in a real good mood. Or is it evil mood? I never can remember. I might even do a couple autoracks to go with the other six I haven't posted here yet. Thanks,

Nov-22-01, 06:34 AM (EST) 21. "RE: New switcher for the IC route?" Yeah, the wlo is still out there on paper..... shuffling somehwere... pun intended.... I do see grain cars and some boxcars now and then up here in Minneapolis/St Paul, but I have never seen any autoracks, course, if they are on paper, who knows, they may have come across a good deal on a lease.
OK, now let me see if I can get this right (I have been searching the web for the last 3 hours hoping to find some photo of them, and did search the photos I have here from my childhood).
They were painted the Flat black, had white stripes running around the frame sill and I belive right above the hand rail on the hood. I do not know for sure if the hand rail strip carried on to the cab or if it was just on the hood (again a photo here would be better then my teenage years wrecked memory)
The cab number was placed where the IC placed the Green Diamond logo. Now while the IC era photo shows the "WATERLOO RR" being stenciled on the hood, I dont belive that in the black scheme of things it was there. Again Hide site and a camera handy would have been a wonder right now. this help?
I am going to check one other source that i just relized would be a good possiblity for pictures, and being its Thanksgiving, I know I can reach him by phone (Uncle)Robert Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
