Hi folks !In my activities I´ve one major problem.
Example: I want to be overtaken by an other train on the main track when I´m stopping at a station on a side-track. But the train which should overtake me stops every time at the switch of my side-track into the main track to let me in.How can I solve this ?RD

RE: Overtaken

Hmm. That is something that is almost in the realm of black magic! I managed to get and overtaking scenario to work in my "52 Pickup, IC Style" activity for the IC2 route. However, there was really no rhyme or reason to why it works when and where it does. When I tried to set up the overtaking situation either north or south of the final location, the AI train would behave exactly as you describe. And keep in mind that the IC2 being currently unsignaled may have had something to do with that. The Longhairedwizard has an overtaking scenario in one of his activities for the East Metro route. I believe he had discovered some of the secrets as to how/why it worked. You might want to do a search in this forum and see if it turns up.Or maybe the 'wizard will see this thread and resond.Henry

RE: Overtaken

Rubberduck, One issue with MSTS activities that is raising its head as many people experiment with designing activities is relative placement and DISTANCE between the player and AI trains when they are spawned. So the question now is what are these with the activity you are designing.Sharon Evans

RE: Overtaken

There are two ways to maybe do this....One is to of course route your player train into the passenger siding. and have an AI train (that starts about 5 minutes behind you) take the mainline aournd you, but make sure that the AI trains consist is longer the the passenger siding the player train is in. Ive used this issue of siding vs train length to get an AI train to pass a player train from behind on a regular passing siding (a short passing siding...hehe)The other way to do this (this is a more surefire way as I did this on the passenger activitiy in my new Union pacific activity pack)..is to have the player train do one of two things.....either perform a brief reverse movement (once in the siding) to coax the AI train to pass...or better yet..put a static consist on the approach end of the passenger siding, forcing the player to pass up the passenger siding and back in. its this reverse movement that let the AI train pass you.Longhairedwizard
