I am working on a very basic route, trying (as most of us have) to test out the Route/Activity Editors. So far, I have created a fairly simple yard area, with track, points and a few buildings. However - when I run the Explore Route on my routeto test it out, the buildings do not appear (though trees do!). also, If I attempt to change the points via the F8 key, the whole thing freezes. What am I doing wrong?

RE: Newbie Problems

Hi. Welcome! Your building problem may be that the slider called World Objects Density in the Advanced Display Options is set too low. Increasing this slider should increase the quantity of the objects that will be displayed on the route.F8, to my knowledge, does not change points, but only toggles the switch display in MSTS on and off. Pressing G (in front of the loco) and Shift-G (behind the loco) is what actually changes the points.Crashing when changing points is usually due to one of your switch's outlets not connecting to any track (I learned this one the hard way myself). Always put at least a 10M section of track on all switch outlets. You can always change them later. Also, you cannot connect switch bases up to each other (the outlets you can). Again always put at least a 10M section between switches that face each other (Some put smaller or even a 2M dynamic track, but I like at least 10M).Good Luck! - AndrewDCForum Discussion Forum - Newbie Problems – image 1 PATCO Hi-Speed Line
