Hi all,
I've been making a strange observation on an activity I made for the default S&C route. I did not actually design it from scratch, but rather duplicated and modified one of the S&C activities that came with the TA American Classics package so that it would use late steam era BR rolling stock. The activity works fairly well, though I feel I might have to cut down a little on the AI traffic - not for performance issues, but rather more holdups as I think would be "right" for an express passenger activity such as this.Anyway, what I'd like to ask is this. While I was playing this activity and approaching Carlisle I noticed an unusually high number - perhaps four or five - of AI trains stopped dead right on the route - in fact, each of them right before a red signal in front of a station. Moreover, since I had these AI trains fitted with various BR steam engines I would have expected them to exhaust steam and smoke even while stationary - just as any player-controlled steamer would do. However, these AI engines didn't. They were just standing there as if something had doused the fire in the middle of driving.Has anybody made observations similar to this one? Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks!

RE: Dead AI engines...?

More than likely someone used a static consist with engines to simulate a parked or stopped AI train......this can be effective with diesels but I might assume that with steam,...you wouldnt get the smoke effects thereby negating its effectiveness.LHW

RE: Dead AI engines...?

Well, actually I was the "somebody" who created this activity - and no, those stopped trains are not static consists, but regular services.D.M."Homini plurima ex homine sunt mala." - Plinius Maior, Naturalis Historia 7,1,5

RE: Dead AI engines...?

AI trains don't put out smoke or steam when stationary. Not only that, but they don't put any out when running the consist in reverse.I'm currently creating an activity which features AI shunting in various yards that the player service passes along the S&C 1930s and all the AIs behave as above.regards,
