Jun-29-01, 03:10 PM (EST) "zoom on path display" After using the activity editor a couple of times I have lost the ability to zoom in on the path display map. Does anyone know how I get that back?
Thanks, RCF Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-01-01, 02:50 PM (EST) 2. "RE: zoom on path display" I'm having a similar sort of problem. I was putting the finishing touches on an activity, and then all of a sudden all my "service information" disappeared, i.e. the boxes representing the player train and AI train are gone, and even using Verify Starting State and making sure the View Service Info menu option is checked (and checking it and unchecking it) I now can't see the service info on this OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITY! They all still run fine though! I even tried deleting the activity I'd been working on, and rebooting my computer, still no service info when looking at any activity w/ the activity editor. I suppose I'm going to have to bite the bullet and uninstall and reinstall MSTS. Anyone have a similar bug experience? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-04-01, 11:11 AM (EST) 4. "RE: zoom on path display, and loss of AI traffic: FIX" Well I bit the bullet and reinstalled MSTS. I DIDN'T uninstall, I just loaded the CD, picked the option 'reinstall' and checked the box that said 'overwrite existing files'. Surprising, while time consuming (it needed both CD's), the process was relatively painless. I didn't lose any of the activities I'd designed (I'd of course archived them just in case) or any of the locomotives or cars I'd downloaded. It just replaced all the msts default file. Now, my editor works perfectly again! I'd recommend you try this, in fact I'd recommend to anyone who has downloaded a number of people's activities and is now experiencing abberant behavior in the sim to try this. It WILL overwrite all the consists and paths that were included with the default install, back to the default values, but it WON'T touch any truly NEW things you've loaded or added. Of course if you've upgraded your locos to the improved physics fix available here on train-sim.com, you'll need to do that again. Also, I found that I once again had the old "failed to open package" bug when I tried to unpack any activities, I went through part of the procedure documented here in this forum to fix that, but when I got to the part where I used 'open with' to select 'tsunpack' as the program, the activity in fact unpacked and my unpacking capabilities were restored! So, again, a relatively painless fix, I thank Microsoft for including the 'Reinstall' feature given the fact that activity designers using the activity packager can often overwrite your default traffic, consist and service files and you could exhibit unexpected side effects with this depending how diligent the activity author was at avoiding this pitfall.Good luck!
