May-27-02, 05:51 PM (EDT) "Avtivity Problem in KHP" I have had the same problem with two different activities that I am designing. In all 3 incidents the problem occurred at or very near the small bridge west of the Banff station in that 20 MPH slow area. All movements are east bound Field to Banff. In the first, I had an "Activity Over Car Uncoupled" and I could see the lead engine pulling away from the consist. The second, again car uncoupled, and I could see the two cars where I had my view shake back and forth. In the third, I didn't see anything other then the message "car derailed". This is getting very frustrating since it takes almost 2 hrs to get to this point from Field, and I don't do a save just before the trouble spot. I have set up test activities just in the Banff area to duplicate the main activity, but have never been able to duplicate the problem.ThanksSharon Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-28-02, 01:57 AM (EDT) 1. "RE: Avtivity Problem in KHP" Hi Sharon!Maybe this is a special situation in KHP (as the uncoupling on the left track near the summit in Maria´s), but it seems a bit familiar to me in another way:I have been creating an activity for Marias 1948. Taking a consist down from Kalispell to Essex. At Whitefish I had made a couple of situations where some cars had to be dropped. Short before the first of those two these always happened: an uncoupling or a derailing!I went through all the different situations and finally found out, that the distance at Whitefish between the switch and the reverse point wasn´t long enough for the train plus loco/s (this has been discussed in some thread nere before - it´s vital!).When I fixed that distance, all those problems disappeared. And noone else has reported such a problem to me either!Besides, it seems to me that in TS the tension is built up during the driving. Finally, when it has come to a certain limit, an uncoupling or derailing occurs. Cautious driving (gaining speed - slowing down) is the cure for this. It´s my idea - I can´t proof it, but that´s what I have found out. If an uncoupling occurs and I start from an earlier, saved situation and try to be more careful, it mostly don´t happen!Just a couple of thoughts and I wish you good luck with the activity creating. Yesterday my copy of KHP arrived. It seems to be great as far as I can tell from some driving!Haraldh F Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Avtivity Problem in KHP" Haraldh F, Thanks for the reply, another point that I noticed when I went into the wag/eng files for the train I was using, the break value was set very low. I am going to increase it up to the 5.1 that I have already done with cars/engines that I use on Marias.Sharon
