Hi all,I was wondering if anyone had figured out a way to change the weather TYPE/CATEGORY while still in an activity? I have been using Sky Conductor 2 for quite some time now and I have always liked the various skies and weather it provides..This is a copy of the the answer to question #3 in the FAQ given in Sky Conductor 2:"No. Only one sky choice for each type (clear, snow, and rain) can be loaded into Train Simulator at a given time."I was thinking, since there can only be one choice for each TYPE of weather at a given time, is there any way to switch from one weather type/category to another without having to recreate an activity (and change the weather setting)?? I KNOW you CAN change the weather pattern (if it is from the same category, like "clear") and change from mercury to breeze for e.g. while you are still in the activity, but has anyone figured out a way to change the weather type/category while still playing the activity?? For example, if I am climbing a mountain pass, once I get to a certain altitude, I'd like to be able to switch the light rain to a light snow without having to create a new activity and put a start point where I left off.. Is there any way that this could be done?? (or even by creating an IF THEN statement in the AE or something like that!?)hehe.. me and my complex (and almost impossible) questions! As far as I can tell, this can't be done because the basic weather type is selected when the activity is designed. It can only be changed by going into the activity editor, loading up the activity in question and switch where the check mark is for weather. With SkyConductor, you can switch the conditions within the weather type while in the activity. Just go out to the desk top from the activity and make the change.Bottom line here is to get the effect you are talking about. You would have to save the activity, quit MSTS, go to start, programs, Microsoft games, Trainsim, activity editor, Load the route, then the activity, change the weather check box, save the activity, exit the editor, restart MSTS, load the saved game, then maybe you will have the weather change you want, but I don't gaurantee it!Sharon

Seern, that's correct except that if you change the activity parameters, you can't go back to any saved games for that activity. You'd have to start your activity all over again.Joe

Thanks for your replies..I had just wondered if anyone had gained some insight when I rewrote the phrase "each type".. (however, the documentation may be misleading in the Sky Conductor FAQ) (And maybe wishful thinking on my part) But I took the "each type" (from FAQ #3) to mean 1 clear type, 1 rain type, and 1 snow type would all be loaded at any one given time.. But then again, I guess it was refering ONLY to the Sky Conductor and how it has 1 weather type reserved and loaded for each sky type for when you ever decide to choose that 1 sky type in MSTS.. In other words, the loading of all 3 at once has NOTHING to do with the MSTS gameplay and is only referring to Sky Conductor..And yes, that's correct.. Anytime I've changed any aspect in the activity or (especially) the route, the saved files (of the original) will become corrupted and will not load..Guess, for now I will have to make 2 separate activities: 1 that is in the rain as I travel up the pass, and the other that carries on where I left off and starts where the snow level begins..Happy train-simming! cdntrains "must be trains in the blood"

I wanted to ask this question as well, and I see you beat me to it! But that would be neat to drive in or out of a storm, or even have point of such a downpour/blizzard that you can't see 10ft in front of you! Oh well, there's mutterings of MSTS2, and maybe on that then?BTW - I like your 'signature trains' you run under your name.
