May-10-02, 02:35 AM (EDT) "Turning engines at start point - How ?" I wanted to build an activity coming out of the engine shed and find that the power units always face the starting direction. I of course want the power to back out of the shed and into the proper yard to build a consist. THE QUESTION is how to make the engines come out of the shed tail first. I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find any reference to it.Thanks for the help.

(when the little circle thingie is on the track) and in the
dropdown menu, there's an option near the bottom to reverse the
direction of a consist. It's "Toggle start direction".The option may only be there just when the start point has been
set.GaryG

>I think lamodelrr meant the facing direction of the locos, not the route. If so, the answer is to create a 'reverse' consist. If you use the consist editor built in to the activity editor, any consists that you create have the 'facing/starting' direction to the left. In order to do what you want, make and save a consist with the loco facing to the right in the consist editor.Example:A 'normal' steam light engine and tender would look like: <engine<tenderA 'reverse' steam light engine should look like: tender>engine>...where '>' is the normal front of the unit.Hope I've explained that clearly. If it doesn't make sense, I have recently uploaded an activity for the S & C 1930s route called the Settle Milk Run. Part 1 of this activity uses exactly this method. Another activity that I uploaded a while ago for the ECML(Road Building Shifts 2 & 3) also uses this technique. If you have the route(s) and the stock, download the activity(s) and look at the consists in the AE.HTHhairyred

May-10-02, 10:37 AM (EDT) 3. "RE: Turning engines at start point - How ?" Also, if you happen to have the "Road Freight" activity for the IC2 route, you'll see a switcher working the Mattoon area that's set up the same way.Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-10-02, 02:13 PM (EDT) 5. "RE: Turning engines at start point - How ?" Yes, You have it right. I am talking about the consist. I did go into the activity editor and right click the engine(s), I had two of them and found my active cab up the tail of the other engine. I can use just one engine and reverse the direction then back up into the other to build a double engine power consist just outside the shed and that should work. I will try a couple of things to see what happens now that I know what I was on the right track..... so to speak. Thanks for all the advise,
