It it possible to make an activity with no goal or finish. I would to play with some routes just by putting some frieght cars in yards and on sidings, and then switch them around, by using waybills created by an other program. Also is it possible to control two trains, maybe have a switcher make up a consist, then switch to a road engine to take the cars to there destination.
It's actually easier to make activities with no set goals, I call them "open ended" activities, and the minimum you need is; 1. Some kind of entry in the brief and workorder boxes, it can be only one word. 2. A player service and a path, the path doesn't have to cover the whole route unless you want to go thru automatic switches on the curve. The player path needs to be at least a little longer than the player consist you use. 3. Place a bunch of loose consists on sidings. Here's a link to a very small route that has four of those type of activities;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/3850.html That's the first version of Port Ogden & Northern, a small but complete switching route, no signals or AI traffic. Version 5 is in the file library routes section, PO&Nver5.zip, and it has the same style of open ended activities with zillions of loose consists, plus signals and AI traffic. It'll definitely make you think about upgrading your computer if the framerates ain't up to snuff. Here's a link to how the signals & AI traffic for version 5 work;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/3909.html Most of the pics in that thread show the location of some of those framerate killing loose consists. Glad to have you aboard, I was beginning to think I was the only switching nut that hated those blasted pop-up windows telling you what to do.
Couldn't the EXPLORE ROUTE also be modified with extra consists and such in Activity Editor? I'm still a 'newbie', so maybe I'm missing the point still? But to me, that would be the easiest?Would it not?
