Feb-23-02, 03:08 PM (EST) "Reversing Points-Marias3" I am trying to path an activity where the engine is in reverse pushing a cut of cars. In order to get the engine at the correct end of the train I placed a start point, a reversing point just a bit ahead and I then placed a reversing point (in the reverse direction) further down the path( there are switches in between).
r1==s======================r2(s= start,r1,r2- reversing pts)
endpt=====/
When I run the activity in the editor the train reverses correctly at the first point, but goes thru the other point without reversing or stopping. When I try the activity in the game the second reversing point floats away from the train (the train is in reverse) and the train never catches it (The end pont is thru another awitch). What am I missing, or does a reversing point only work if the engine is at the front of the train and the train is going forward? (If so is there a way to beat this -- a phantom car or a line of code in a dummy type car?)This is in the Marias3 route. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Seems to work in the editor with 30 car, but not with 40 car. I still have the same question if anyone knows a way around this. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-23-02, 11:28 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Reversing Points-Marias3" I have seen this too, while running a full length train. I moved the reverse point further away from a switch and it seemed to help, but that move may be totally unrelated to the results. I have only seen this happen while going forward. The help file says the reverse point is activited when the front end of the consist reaches the point, but it also says that if it is near a switch, the reverse point should be far enough away from the switch so that the rear of the train clears the switch. The two things shouldn't have anything to do with each other, but maybe they do!! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Reversing Points-Marias3" "When I try the activity in the game the second reversing point floats away from the train (the train is in reverse) and the train never catches it (The end pont is thru another awitch)."This is usually a dead givaway that a portion of the consist is over a switch point when hitting the reverse point. The consist, whatever the length, has to be in clear track, free of switch points when setting reverse points.
I use temporary consists of the size i need to "template" the distance for the reverse point. Then I just delete them off the track after I set the reverse point.
Also a good idea not to have the consist under a signal when reversing.
hope this helps.
