Feb-21-02, 10:20 AM (EST) "Activities needed for Sea View" Hi! My new route, Sea View, became available yesterday and over 1,000 people downloaded it in the the first 24 hours. Slight problem, I don't know how to do activities, so there is nothng to do in Sea View but drive along and look at the ocean. I don't know if it is appropriate to ask, but if anyone would be interested in doing a couple of simple activities, it would be greatly appreciated. No big yards, but most islands have from two to ten sidings with industry or warehouses. There is a wye and three loops. Sea View has interlocking signals, but I have no idea if they will work in activities. Thanks,

Feb-22-02, 09:15 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Activities needed for Sea View" I know nothing about making frieght activites, but have made about 50 passenger activites, most of which I have kept to myself but some of which have turned up in Lago's TSTA and Abacus' Roundhouse. I am working on a sightseeing activity but am just familiarising myself with the route a bit more... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Your efforts would be very much appreciated. Sightseeing is a natural for Sea View. There are maps of each portion of the route in the "Maps" folder.I tried to do a couple of activities but they wouldn't work. I'm not as smart as you activity designers. So at present, the only place to even start is Port Pelican. I would at least like for people to be able to start from any station they choose and then drive in either direction. Thanks,

Feb-22-02, 12:50 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Activities needed for Sea View" Well, I've rushed and done TOUROFFI.zip, which should be avalible soon in the file library, and I have uploaded it here too (http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3c7684102726cbab.zip ). It takes in only the Western Islands at the moment. BTW, I have a real problem getting trains to stop at Fisherman's Bridge. To get the train to reverse out, you have to put a reverse point past the station, but the station is basically at the buffer. So what I've had to do is get the train to stop there, but not as an 'offical' station stop, so it won't show up in the 'Next Station' box.My route editor is also acting bizzarely, could you let me know if the train will pass you at Fisherman's Bridge, it did before but I made some last minute modifications using a dying route editor.P.S... there's no way I could do a route, so I suppose it's a good thing these editors are seperate from one another. arabianights is a name I chose on some very busy messageboard years ago, and its one I use now so I can guarantee that it's avalible when I sign up. I'm not arabian... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-22-02, 02:14 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Activities needed for Sea View" Thanks David,I am very appreciative. Can't actually try out "Mobile Tourist Office" until this evening. I'm really, really looking forward to it.There have been over 1,700 downloads of Sea View so far and that number is climbing steadily, so I think a lot of people will appreciate and enjoy your efforts. Thanks again,

Feb-22-02, 04:01 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Activities needed for Sea View" Don't use that one: I uploaded a buggy version.... There appears to be someone else in teh file library who's beaten me to it with a similar idea, but I will still upload my version... I'm just going to upload the 'proper' version... I'll call it TourSV.zip Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-22-02, 04:17 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Activities needed for Sea View" LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-02 AT 04:22 PM (EST)tour.zip in the file library requires more extra stuff than the readme says - you also need vermnter.zip and htbaga41.zip. Also in the activity these are used from a folder other than where they should be - so you either have to ignore the readme with wagons and name the folders differently (vermnter and htbaga41 respectively), or edit the activity to use the correct name - (I did the latter)I would email the author to inform him, but there are no contact details in the readme - so all I can do is post here.(note if you go the first route and install into non-stnadard directories, any other activities using these wagons won't work, and if you create activities they will have this same problem) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-22-02, 07:07 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Activities needed for Sea View" David, I'm impressed with your persistance and it is appreciated. If you keep messing up much more you will become qualified to be a route developer. 7 You might want to make an announcement on the main "Microsoft Train Simulator" forum here about your activity since many, many more people read it.
