Feb-21-02, 01:46 AM (EST) "PO&N version 5 CSX Unit Coal-Train activity....coming soon!!! by Longhairedwizard" This is actually an activity that I started on the PO&N version 4 and have been meaning to finish, so I updated it for the version 5 taking you most of the kewlest new sections on this route. This is a Modern era activity, but I'm also thinking of releasing it in a late 1970's Chessie era as favor to a friend (and for all us "old farts" who dig older era's...LOL)THE STORYLINE:
Due to a Huge vein of Coal recently discoverd at the Coalmine, management has O.K.'ed the staging of unit coal trains on the Port odgen trackage between their local jobs. We'll be shipping Coal to Detroit Edison via CSX. Your to take a loaded unit train of 50 bethgons powered with 2 SD70's and a SD40 on up to the East Metro. You'll have to stop and pick up a couple of SD40 helpers to make it up the grade towards '77' where you'll drop the helpers off. Oh, and BE CAREFULL picking up them helpers...you'll be on a steep grade and management won't look to kindly on you putting 50 loaded coalcars through the enginehouse there! You'll have a long backing move when you drop the cars off at the E. metro interchange so we'll be using a caboose for this run (this IS prototypical of CSX practise today!) Plenty of opposing traffic on this run so be prepared to stop as you might not get much prior notice!!!PS- I may continue this run on the East metro if the PO&N run proves popular.Here are some screenshots... Above: here we are heading upgrade toward '77'...you can see the Tanktrain from my earlier PO&N activities rounding the "Toopachame" loop in the distance.

I was watching a video that SD80MAC loaned me and I discovered that it's fairly common for CXS and other RR's to use cabooses on run requiring long backing moves even today!!!...I'll probably substitute another caboose for this one cause it would be a shame not to have a virtual cupula view on this run! Ooops!!!....this is what happens when one does not anticipate haveing to stop in time!!!!THis activity may be available as early as this weekend and probably no later than a week!!!Longhairedwizard Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

This is a great activity!!!!!Anybody that doesn't download it is short of a few marbles!The long drag up the mountain with the coal train is hard work and the signal failures make this even more difficult to complete. I'v run it several times now and still havn't got a perfect score card on it. Off to try it again!!Great work there the Wizard!!!Best Regards,
