Jan-26-02, 10:32 AM (EST) "Consist Editor Question/info" I want to change the sort of the rolling stock in the consist editor. Diesels I want to sort by Roadname/Model. (in this I've been largely successful) It appears that the diesel list is sorted by the name of the .eng file so this can be appropriately renamed. The name which is displayed it what is in the NAME() entry. However, if you don't change all of the WAGON and ENGINE entries to reflect the new external .eng name, you get a separate entry in the list for each one. Freight cars don't seem to sort the same way... and here's where I need some help. I want freight cars to sort by type/roadname. After renaming the .eng file and changing the WAGON() entry to match and adding a NAME() statement. I get an entry in the list that matches what I want plus 2-3 additional entries sometimes the NAME() is used sometimes the external .eng name is used and sometimes the ORIGINAL name is used. AND the sort is all wrong even then. Can anyone offer advice about what I want to do (preferably something other than "don't do it!"). I really need to get this all done before I get too many consists built since the .eng name must be changed in all of the .con files. Thanks,
Bob McWilliams

Jan-26-02, 12:45 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Consist Editor Question/info" Hi,The .eng file, .s file and .sd file are a trio with the same name before the extension. And so do the .wag files.
When you rename an .eng or .wag file, you have to rename the .s and .sd file accordingly and then in the .sd file change the name of the .s to the new name.In the .eng file there are some places where you find the name of the .eng file (without .eng).You have to change these according the new name of the .eng file.
Also in the .eng and .wag file you have to change the name of the .s file.In the .eng file, you find the name back in the parameters:
Wagon (
WagonShape ( ) this is the name of the .s file
Engine (
Wagon () yes this is the wagon name in the Engine sectionIn the .wag file, you only have a
Wagon (
WagonShape ()Hopes this helpsDick van den Hoven

Jan-26-02, 01:33 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Consist Editor Question/info" Yes, that helps...
I was HOPING to be able to do it without having to rename the other files. I had about come to the conclusion that it would be necessary... Thanks for the help!
