Dec-27-01, 04:37 PM (EST) "Dropping cars on the IC" (Also posted to the route forum....)For the last week or so I've been trying to design an activity for David Klemm's IC route involving picking up cars and dropping off cars at various locations. I've managed to progress to the point that the pick up part of the activity is working consistently. However, I cannot get a drop off to work at all. No matter what location I select in the activity editor or where on the specific track I leave the cars, that part of the activity ends in failure. I decided to take a look at how someone else might have done it, but I can't find any switching/peddler type activities in the file library for this route.Has anyone tried this and if so, have you had any success? I thought the problem was on my end (and I still think it probably is) but I did manage to write a simple activity for Marias Pass which worked just fine.HELP!!!Henry Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-30-01, 04:56 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Dropping cars on the IC" Thanks, Kelley! So far I haven't had a bite with these messages. Either no one else has tried dropping cars on the IC up to now, or they haven't seen this message thread. Either way, I'm stumped.I'll probably go ahead a make an activity with just pick ups, but that'll seem awfully odd if we don't find a resolution.I wonder if David has tried dropping cars?Henry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-31-01, 07:21 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Dropping cars on the IC" LAST EDITED ON Dec-31-01 AT 07:22 PM (EST)are you dropping them off on unnamed sidings by any chance? I know the game doesn't allow dropoffs on unnamed sidings only pickups. if you are using named sidings then your problem may be this: are you setting up the dropoffs in the events window of the activity editor? some people think all you have to do is just place a reverse point on the siding but this is not the case. you must have a dropoff in the events list. if you do then try this: make sure there is only one reverse point over a switch or if it involves going into a yard do not use a reverse point to go back over the same switch. i.e. if you put a reverse point on a switch to go back the way you came do not add another to go back over it again as the game ignores it therefore whatever gets done over that reverse point you put will be ignored and the game will see to the next point away from the switch. so it'll move away from all the switches in that area therefore your events will be moved to the next section away. if you don't get this let me know and I'll try to simplify it. Jan-08-02, 01:08 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Dropping cars on the IC" Hi Craig, I’m not using unnamed sidings, though there are certainly a lot of them on the IC2 route. (I hope David sees this!) And I’ve set up the appropriate action events to designate the car(s) and the location(s) for the drops. I could get this to work on Marias Pass and EMRR, but not on the IC.I’m pretty sure that reversing points aren’t really an issue here, though I’ve used them with success in the past. However, I can’t get MSTS to recognize a drop on the IC, even with a simple activity consisting of picking up cars at one point on a given track, then driving down the line to drop the cars at a named location further down the same track. The game will see all of the pickups just fine. But no matter where I drop the car(s) on the designated track, it won't show a success in the evaluation. Likewise, it won't take any other action (i.e. increasing activation levels) based on successfully making the drop. I'm beginning to think it’s something specific to the route itself, but that doesn’t seem logical. I guess that’s why I’m hoping that someone else will try dropping off cars on the IC. Maybe they’ll hit on something that I missed.Henry
