Dec-24-01, 00:01 AM (EST) "Speed 2 - AI train spacing." Anybody else having problems with setting the speed of AI trains? The only way I found to do it is to change the AI train's service performance, and it works sometimes, but frequently resets itself to the default 75. I can't figure the formula either, if the consist I use normally runs at 35, and I want to slow it down to match other trains, setting it for 60 or setting it for 25 seems to make it run at the same speed. Either too fast or too slow, can't find the balance.Message Areas - "Speed 2 - AI train spacing." – image 1
These all start 10 minutes apart, but I can't adjust the speed of the third train to keep it from catching up with the second without it slowing down so much that the next spawn of train 1 10 minutes later catches up with train 3. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-26-01, 00:08 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Speed 2 - AI train spacing." For passenger trains that stop in stations, I edit the "Efficiency" value from platform to platform. For goods trains, I alter whatever Efficiency values are present and throw in several "Waiting Points", which slows the train down. If you use small values of Efficiency (such as 0.01) the train slows down dramatically. (I suppose goods trains could be made to stop in stations too -- but we don't want to be around to see it, do we!)Still, as you mention, the effect is difficult to predict. I've noticed too that the AE sets the Efficiency value back to 0.75 seemingly at whim. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
