Dec-17-01, 02:51 PM (EST) "Adding Activities??" Problems with adding Marias activities. I have followed the Sybex book and the Abacus instructions on activities and have been unable to get an activity to work. I have used only existing activities, but changed names for services, consists, and paths so keeping the original files. I notice that original activities have two files names for each activity in the Activities file but when I create an activity there is only one file name. Am I forgetting something? Help please. Dec-17-01, 04:29 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Adding Activities??" For an activity you need at least one file: the .ACT file. You can make a second file, the .ASV file, by choosing the compute and save command in the activity editor. This will ´compile´ your activity. ASV files will load faster in Trainsim than ACT files.
I don´t know why you don´t get your activities working. Please be more specific. You can learn a lot from the activity tutorials written by Rich Garber and DAZ. If I read your message right, you're changing the display names of the services, paths, etc., but you're not really doing what I think you mean to do.You are right about the double name for each thing you do. The first time you name something, you are giving it the display name. This only matters for the Activity Editor. The second name is for the file name. Usually in the Activity Editor you can't change the file name once its given. Usually, not always.What I suggest you to do, is to start with a new activity and see how you do that way. Editing an already existing activity is not the best way to start. Activity creation is fairly simple. Getting it to work, is another matter. So get the basics down first. In all honesty if I understood your message right, several issues are coming to mind that could be problematic for you. And to address each one, well... be a long post.
