Dec-16-01, 09:23 AM (EST) "Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" I've managed to add ONE AI train to several activities but can't figure out the logic of adding several. For ex: If my train starts at 10:00 and opposing traffic I would like to have begin at 10:05, 10:20, 10:40. How do I list that in the activity window and set routes for each of these "Player Services"????

Dec-16-01, 09:28 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" It's actually quite simple. You create a new "traffic" item (bottom right), in there create a new service, create the path, then add the service into the traffic several times, giving each the desired start time. (button marked "insert selected service")Good luck!-Alan Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-16-01, 09:32 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" Does that mean that each AI train will be the same consist or do I can I create different consists for each AI train? I had been using the Edit button to try to add additional trains but you suggest that each train added must be "NEW". Am I correct? If so, I'll give it a try! Dec-16-01, 09:57 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" LAST EDITED ON Dec-16-01 AT 09:58 AM (EST)A service is a consist and a path (as far as I can tell). The way I described would give you several of the same train on the same route. If you would like different consists, then each has to be a different service, though it can run the same path. You can use the "use as template" button to create a copy of an existing one and edit that for subtle changes.Hope this makes sense.-Alan. Dec-16-01, 11:32 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" Funny how we both run into the same problem at the same time. The problem I had with cloning the paths for different services was that the second train, using the same path as the first, would get near the end of it's run and stop. Even tho the first train had ended and dissappeared 12 minutes before, #2 thought it was still there for some reason and refused to move. Tedious, but I wound up repeating the same process to create each new service and path from scratch, avoiding the "use as template" shortcut like the plague, and it worked. On my test activity for the beta for V5 I have five different AI trains, and altho they all follow each other over the exact same route, each has it's own unique path name for 5 paths that are identical in all but name. I do repeat, but I get;15:00 Player start
15:00 AI-1 GP38x17mix
15:12 AI-2 2xDash9x20intermodal
15:24 AI-3 2xDash9x37oil
15:36 AI-4 2xDash9x30mix
15:48 AI-5 2xDash9x30grain
16:00 AI-1 GP38x17mix
16:12 AI-2 2xDash9x20intermodal
16:24 AI-3 2xDash9x37oil
16:36 AI-4 2xDash9x30mix
16:48 AI-5 2xDash9x30grain
17:00 AI-1 GP38x17mix
17:12 AI-2 2xDash9x20intermodal
17:24 AI-3 2xDash9x37oil
17:36 AI-4 2xDash9x30mix
17:48 AI-5 2xDash9x30grainI could possibly mix this up further, but with 5 different consists, each repeating only once an hour, there's plenty of variety especially when you consider the player is not gonna be standing still thru all this, but will be meeting them in different places.Here's the other thread;

Dec-16-01, 06:17 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" Thanks Jim... I'm getting the hang of this. I also started adding sound regions. Started with the Tehachapi "wheel screeching" on tight curves. It sounds awesome. Have you added any sounds to the "ssource" file? I've added the over and under bridges and in tunnel sounds... they make a huge different.

Dec-16-01, 06:06 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Adding multiple AI trains to an activity" It does.... thanks Alan. Actually I experimented with adding different consists under the same "Player Service" entry and had success with three meets and one superior train passing me. Unfortunately, I had the superior train path set to cross in front of me and preceed me. It simply waited at the crossover until I passed and then rear-ended me when it caught up to me on the grade. But at least I am starting to understand the logic (or lack of logic) behind the AI trains. Thanks for your help. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
