Nov-23-01, 01:06 AM (EST) "Realistic consists, anyone want them?" Evening - Happy Thanksgiving!I was wondering, I have alot of realistic consist I have seen in the past couple of weeks and made them for TS. However....The Activity Editor seems not to like me all that well and i'm not able to do an activity before it decides it wants to crash. If anyone is interested, I have around 25 trains that have all made the hill (Marias Pass Version 3) If your interested, let me know. I would love to see them getting some real action for a change.

Nov-25-01, 02:48 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" Brian, I hate to see that happen... have you tried my Activity Tutorial from Abacus? I don't like promoting stuff like this but I hate to see someone having problems with the Activity Editor. Maybe give it a try?Rich Garber Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>Rich Garber Hey Rich,I'm overdue to get the book, I've been way to busy with school testing the (25!!) trains...it's hard, I've only stalled a couple of times, but Friday is still a go...I have 12 more to test out, I just have been testing the major grades - Red Eagle to Browning and back. The README file is finished, It includes all the locomotives you'll need, I'm still in a juggle if I should put the non default cars in...What Do you guys think?Included in this wonderful FREE package will be Manifest Trains, Intermodal Trains, and COAL TRAINS. I'm looking for some basic MOW cars to simulate a Work Train/Ballast Train.Screenshots to come soon!

Nov-28-01, 08:06 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" Brian,By any chance, do you have less than 256 megs of RAM in your machine? It seems most of the crashing occurs when there's less than this amount of RAM. Memory is going up they say, would be a good time to buy if you need some.Looking forward to those consists too. I agree that the ones we got to use don't look too good.Rich Garber Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-28-01, 10:35 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" Well, the computer has 256MB DDR SDRAM....i'm going to upgrade it to 768MB DDR SDRAM sometime soon before the memory jumps up again. What type do you think I should get. I'm currently using Micron.Brian E. Bundridge

Nov-28-01, 11:08 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" Brian,At 256 MSTS got pretty stable for me but I went up to 768 too. I haven't noticed all that much difference between 512 and 768 but you should see the sim run even better going to 512. I believe you need to run that profile program when you do too. I'm running a 1.2 Gig AMD and this gforce2 GTS 64mb PRO (of all things...) and I think there's something else tacked on the name. Gawd awful name for something isn't it? Nov-29-01, 05:02 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" Well, it's TIME 6hrs 01mins to go. I'm testing the last coal trains...and on the loads....so your going to see the sets reduced to 100cars instead of the original 118, 121, 132, and 123 sets. Sorry!!!! I'm going to hold off on the screengrabs until the final hour *evil grin* Looking forward to seeing the activities!Note: I have a CR Coaltrain, it has 120 cars - empty, 2 engines, top speed N/A.Brian E. Nov-29-01, 05:30 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" I just recently jumped my ram from 256 to 512. There is a noticeable improvement. Not great, but noticeable.

Nov-29-01, 07:55 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Realistic consists, anyone want them?" You won't get a super great improvement but you should see the program start to behave better. Rich Garber Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
