Nov-02-01, 05:02 PM (EST) "A couple Questions bout Activities: Red signals and Disappearing Caboose 5 key view" Is it possible to design an activity were you go from point A to point B(say...half the route), switch some cars around then return to point A on a single track mainline? Ive designed an activity that does this but I'm plagued with red signal despite NOT having added any AI traffic yet. I thinking this is why I see a lot of 2 part activities. Also, on this same activity I use a caboose on my train and after doing the switching with the caboose reattached to the end of the train now going back the way it came, the number 5 key no longer functions for the caboose cupola view. Im thinking this might have to do with the fact that the caboose is now connected to the train from the oppisite end it was connected to on the way there.Longhairedwizard Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: A couple Questions bout Activities: Red signals and Disappearing Caboose 5 key view" Once a car with a passenger view is uncoupled, the view is lost despite recoupling the car back to the train, even if you just uncouple and recouple. The only solution is to restart the activity.Bill Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I can't give you an example on an available route, but I have done such an activity on a partially built route that I'm building. The route has signals, and I had AI trains as well.It was a freight activity involving both pickups and drop offs. At the far end, I dropped off the last cars, turned the loco around in a wye, picked up a whole new consisted, and headed back. There were some squirrely problems with the signals due to timing the AI trains, but once I got them set up, it worked like a charm.Unfortunatley I suspect your problems are more due to the many subtle signal problems many others have experienced. Are you seeing the problems on the return leg? If so, you may want to examine your use of reverse points when you're doing your switching. If your path explicitly details the reverses necessary to drop your caboose, add cars, and then pick-up the caboose again, you may have too many reverse points. This can make signals act strangely.Steve
