Oct-16-01, 03:31 PM (EST) "northbound freight settle/carlisle.. need help with brake systems.." My problem with the northbound freight is the class 37 in engineer colours no 37206 ... it doesn't want to pull those cars! Even with the two of em it's a struggle .. having to stop on the uphill at the red..it's a nightmare...
well not really as bad as that But , my UK locos and stock are an awful mixture of vacuum braked and single and double air pipe systems..just getting them the same is gonna be a chore
Even if I make the whole consist (trainload mixed) twin pipe air by editing the wag files and the eng files , I can't seem to get those brakes off! That 37206 couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding! So a couple of questions for you Does the class 37 really pull like a slug ? If it's not the brakes what could it be?
OK..one more ...AND... If an Ai consist is a mixture of vacuum braked trucks or wagons and a loco running twin air pipes...
.. does the sim care? .. jv Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-17-01, 11:10 AM (EST) 1. "RE: northbound freight settle/carlisle.. need help with brake systems.." The Class 37 is only a class 3 locomotive, so not the most powerful of beasts. Plus, the Settle & Carlisle route is a tough route. Not the steepest of gradients, but unrelenting mile after mile to the summit. In steam days, even with double heading and a banker at the rear, northbound freights could be down to walking pace.As for mixing braking systems, I think that MSTS only checks the first vehicle in the train against the locomotive, and assumes the rest of the train has the same type of braking.ian@trainsimfiles.com Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Yep .. good news about the Ai trains. With the suspect pulling power of these beasts, I look at the expected speed display and it's going up and down a lot! That's what leads me to suspect that I've gorra dodgy pair of deltics.. probably in need of an engine overhaul , maybe the air filter froze overnight!

Jan-04-02, 06:20 PM (EST) 3. "RE: northbound freight settle/carlisle.. need help with brake systems.." I have never fully finished this activity (I crashed into the buffers near the end but fortunatly saved it). However, I have not had problems with the double headed 37s.I designed an activity fro the North Werst trains Route Barrow to workington where a single 37 is hauling 12 tanker cars behind a stopping passenegr service. You certainly do get problems there. A rollback is sometimes necessary to get another running start at it. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
