Oct-03-01, 04:19 PM (EST) "Sybex Activity Tutorial" Can anybody out there help? Before trying to design my own new activities, I thought I should run through the Activity Tutorial in the Sybex book - after all nothing could go wrong.....Unfortunately, the first time I tried running my new vrsion of the freight tutorial (having created a new version, added the extra freight car, edited the train consist and slightly extended the path) - I am now getting the dreaded 'MIcrosoft Error Report' message whenever I try to run either my new tutorial or the original freight tutorial. The only common componene to fboth is the path so I assume this is the problem but have no idea how to correct the problem nor return to where I was before editing the files. And no, before you ask, I did not keep a backup copy of the activity or path.Has anybody out there seen this problem or have any ideas on how to correct it?Thanks guysIan Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

In the Sevice Editor, specify new, and the Path/Consist editor popup will open. Highlight the Path bar and you should see the first path name displayed. Scroll down through the list until you find the suspect path. Select the Edit button for that path. Note if it says the path is broken. It probably isn't because if it was it shouldn't be a choice you can select for the game, but it's worth looking. If there is a problem with the path, there may be a section of it highlighted in red. If so, you know where to fix the problem. If not, start at the beginning and trace through the path to see if it gets to the originally defined end. If you added a return loop it may be that the path locks up because it returns back to the start. I've had this happen. If that's not it, I'm not sure what to tell you. If it continues, see if you can post a copy of the track layout of the path from the Activity Editor. That may give me more info to go on.Hope this helps.Bill Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-11-01, 04:57 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Sybex Activity Tutorial" Thanks for the advice. I have checked as suggestd and there appears to be no problem with the path - no 'broken' and no 'red'. THere is no return loop nor wye - the path is straight out of the siding onto the mainline, all I did was extend it a bit further up the mainline as suggested in the book. In the end, I have decided to do the only decent thing and reinstall. I may be gone some time......Thanks for the help thoughIan Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
