Sep-14-01, 01:20 AM (EST) "How about an Amtrak "Fast Mail" activity?" We got the NEC route (part of it anyways). We also have the high speed boxcars. I guess it could be (is?) hauled by an HHP. Or possible one of the driveable E60s?
So what do you creators out there say? Don Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sep-14-01, 06:57 PM (EST) 2. "RE: How about an Amtrak "Fast Mail" activity?" What I was referring to, bob, was Amtraks "Fast Mail" train that operates on the Northeast Corridor. I'm not sure exaclty between what points it runs, but the following two pics were shot outside of Philly. There was an article about it in Trains magazine a long time ago. In all the pictures that I have seen, it is always being hauled by AEM7s, but since we don't have any AEM7s I was suggesting that a string of these cars behind either the HHP or the E60 would be "close enough" (I would imagine that any or all of the above might haul it on any given day, depending upon avialbility, tonnage of the train in question, ETC). I see that our resident modelers have already done up the Material Handling Cars, so there ya go!Message Areas - "How about an Amtrak "Fast Mail" activity?" – image 1Message Areas - "How about an Amtrak "Fast Mail" activity?" – image 2I just thought it would make for a kewl suggestion. I may need some help on dropping off cars (!) but I think that the driveable E-60 is the only engine that will work with the MHC's because of the brake lines.ANybody with timetable information please give me a yell.Derek Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
