Sep-09-01, 01:02 PM (EST) "World Files and TDB Files Out of Sync?" When going back into the route to extend my line I am getting repeated requests asking me to delete Platforms, Siding markers, signals and mileposts/speed indicators because the World Files & TDB Files (according to the message) are "Out of Sync". But when I operate consists over those portions of the line (usually the older sections that have been stable in past days) the trains run just fine ... but all my trackside objects have been zapped. I always run the Advanced tab on my route to revisit all the world tiles before each new session. What am I doing wrong? Seems I remember a post suggesting that the advanced rewrite of the TDB really doesn't work and that I should be doing something to insure that the data base really is being rewritten and updated. HELP!!!

Joe, if I understand your question correctly, I think what they said is to delete the .rdb & .tdb files or the editor cheats and uses faulty data from them in place of generating fresh from the supporting files. >Joe Cooney, Ocala, FL Joe, sorry about this second post, but just reread and thought of something. I have found after you get a major error like we've had, the rebuild will not successfully take place anyway. I have found the best solution is to use the backups the way we were discussing in another thread on a different forum. Any time I'm in the editor and I get one of these messages, I just pop out as quick as I can without saving anything before leaving (which is why I save every few minutes and occasionally run my batch file from the start menu). That way I've always got something to fall back on. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sep-11-01, 02:16 PM (EST) 3. "RE: World Files and TDB Files Out of Sync?" Great idea! I'm notorious for not saving often enough. But what you are saying is to keep track of the time/date stamp on my backup files so I may go back to an earlier point thereby just bystepping the error messages. Have I got that correct? I would then just rename the correct backup file to a .w file?
THanks fo rthe tip. Beware of Palestinian and Arab terrorists!@

Sep-12-01, 11:30 AM (EST) 4. "RE: World Files and TDB Files Out of Sync?" You don't even have to rename .. just copy the file back from the backup. It has worked very well for me so far. I'm finally starting my own route and it took about 3 minutes to copy the other batch file, rename and replace the file names in it & it's ready to go. There are still some things that are so much easier to do from DOS. Good Luck Robert Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
