Sep-05-01, 12:43 PM (EST) "MAKING A TRAIN?" OK Folks here we go,
I'm attempting to make a Coal train for a run from Shelby to whitefish. what I want to do is have the player assemble the train in the shelby yard then go up to cutbank to get the helpers then on up to glacier park to drop them off. Getting and dropping the helpers is easy, I was thinking about using the "assemble train" action in the yard but it seems to me that it is the same as the "pick up cars" do you have to add each and every car in the assemble train? I ask because the train is 54 cars long! thats a real pain when you have to add each and every one, then have the player cut them all lose in the WF yard again. ( in the activity you will have to take the power to the house to end it) any thoughts?RR Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sep-06-01, 11:54 PM (EST) 1. "RE: MAKING A TRAIN?" I had a similar problem in that I was picking up a rake of cars from one location and droping them off in another. What I did was this.
Do the original action event pickup with all cars, one by one, in the activity editor.
Then I went to the location point and did the drop cars action event but only did one car.
Saved the activity.
Exited MSTS
BACKED UP the original activity file.
Opened up the activity file in Wordpad, was to large for notepad.
Found where the drop off action event was located.
Looked at the syntax of the drop off event then copied and pasted the relevant pickup event lines into the drop off event. Then changed the lines as needed by highlighting the lines and using search and replace.
Hope this helps.
