Aug-30-01, 09:58 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Passing paths??" Denny, you and I seem to be in the same boat here... I think... THINK... I might have an answer... mind you.. I'm guessing on some premature observations.I'm assuming you have signals set up, I do too. In my own post I was having difficulty just to get an opposing meet to work right. What I did was to create a passing path at the meet where it was supposed to take place.I did that... it didn't work. Posted my message and no responses yet. But, I went back last night and replaced those manual switches with automatic switches and it worked beautifully.I'm going back through my whole route and replacing any manual switches important to mainline activity with the automatic switches. I never did understand why there was two sets of switches. It may be that the automatics are what the AI needs for trains to do their thing. And it may be you need the passing path to give the AI train the path during the meet its suppose to take. That part I'm not sure about cause when I made my change, the passing path was already there.Maybe? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-31-01, 06:03 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Passing paths??" This is something I find nobody seems to really know if it works, or works 100%.You always set up the paths that you want your train to take, and what you want AI trains to take. Passing paths from what I understand gives the AI dispatcher another routing possibility for both AI and your trains. I might experiment with this on the weekend to see how true it is. For your little route, try delaying yourself down the line a bit, etc. and see if perhaps see if the routings change because of this. Good LuckSeanP.S. Don't be surprised if there is a head on colision though, as this is a known bug that will happen it seems with any conflicting movements on a single line. Sep-01-01, 05:51 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Passing paths??" I have done some experimenting around with it some time ago. I couldn't find out what it does. It only makes my activity editor pretty unstable. Just try removing a passing path.. Yuck..I also noticed that none of the standards MSTS activities is using passing paths. So I guess it's just not (yet?) working.
