Aug-27-01, 07:02 PM (EST) "Download new activitys" I've been sucesfull downloading cars and locomotives, but want to move on to new activities. Some of the problems I've read on the forum, seem to be different cars or loco's used or not used, can cause trouble. Can someone help with advice as to download and run new activities? Thank you

Aug-27-01, 09:51 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Download new activitys" Use MSTS Buddy or the Activity Analysis program before you run the activities. They will check for missing consists. I use both and have registered them. They will hopefully prevent the crashes and database errors. Hoe this helps you. Regards, Bob. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-27-01, 10:05 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Download new activitys" I just downloaded Soupacx Activity and downloaded the necessary trainset. However when loading the simulation I receive the Error reading database file Openair.wag. That car, as named, is in the trainset. That is the main problem having to download trainsets. You don't know what name the creator as actually given to the trainset.Anyone know the solution?Alex

Aug-28-01, 00:38 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Download new activitys" LAST EDITED ON Aug-28-01 AT 00:47 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Aug-28-01 AT 00:46 AM (EST)I downloaded it tonight and ran it through the Version 1.8 Activity Analysis program available here at Train-Sim. Here are the problems: My Spcab wag file is called spbwcab not spcab, my openair folder is called openair1 by default if you set it up from the download, my ExcursionCar folder name is Excrsion. I had to edit the consist file (steam Excursion.con)to reflect these errors. Check your spcab folder and look at the wag filename, look at your openair folder and check to see if it's called openair1, check your ExcursionCar folder and see if it's named Excrsion. If these are the folder names you'll have to edit the consist with Wordpad and make the changes there to be able to run it.The easiest way is to printout the Steam Excursion.con file and then check each entry. Then you have to make the changes, as needed, and save it. The Activity Analysis program found all these errors the first time I ran it. It is a really valuable tool as is MSTS Buddy for finding consist and activity problems. You'll have to register it to get all the functions to work. If you find these above entries are the way I stated in your setup e-mail me and I'll send you the correct con file. Hope this helps. By the way the excursion car is a beauty. I'll post a picture later. Best regards, Bob. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-28-01, 04:36 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Download new activitys" After I un-zip the downloaded activity, and copy, do I go to routes, then usa1 or 2 ( for that particular activity) than paste? I'm sure this has been explained. and I appreciate your help. This is just a whole new area to an other wise great sim., that I'd like to get into. I have a few files in my activity folder from a few months ago, but they read as zip files, and will not open.Denisky Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-28-01, 04:44 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Download new activitys" Are they still in the zip format or can't you "unpack" them?
As far as the Usa 1 and usa 2 is concerned, it will unpack in the poper route folder as long as the Activity has an .apk extension. There should be a set of instructions included in the text file.Alex
