Hello to all, I was just wondering if anyone has figured a way around the problem of being able to throw the switches? In the yard 2 exercise on the Marias Pass Route, there doesn't seem to be a dispatcher, you have to, or should I say, you get to throw the switches yourself. I've been working on a couple of things, a new route and activities, and the only way I've been able to get the switches to set up to get the train in the right place is to do some extensive path editing. Forwards and backwards, or should the be reverse path, take other exit, I'm sure that you all know what I mean. There's got to be a way around this dispatcher thing!Lonnie

There has to be somewhere in the activity editor where you can setup the switches how you want for your activity or edit it in other activities. At first I thought maybe in the route editor this was all setup but I don't think so. I am currently looking for a way to do this and if and when I figure it out I will post it up for sure. ok, let me see if I can remember everything I want to say here.. :')1. All the switches with the little level next to them are manuals, usually in yards, sometimes on spurs off mainline even, but most time they are not.2. In order for AI dispatcher to throw a switch for you, you path has to cross over the switch.. And yes you have to use "take other exit" and the "reverse point" if your path keeps doubling back on it self with lots of reverses like the one I'm working on, save often! And if ya kinda lost track to where your path is now since its douling back over it self multiple times, click the 'highlight path' button and use the next/prev buttons to move thru your path, then you can tell where its going and where you may want to slap that next reverse down.. 3. Remember that reverse paths are triggered when the engine runs over it, but if your getting ready to reverse and your engine crosses over the 'reverse path' spot and the end of your train hasn't cleared the switch enough(usually ya need a dash-9 length is a good rule of thumb)then the switch wont be thrown and you wont be able to back down your next path..4. In the activity editor would be nice if it showed what kind each switch is.. But it doesn't! ARGH! Keep that in mind when planning your route.. Cause you have to place the reverses in order and cant go back later and drop one in 'easily'.5. The AI dispatcher will throw the manual switches for you too, if your path does happen to "cross" those, or you can leave it up to the user..6. Watch your train length and where you place your reverses in the path! Your reverse has to be within the switch you want thrown.. Ummm, let me see if I can explain this a bit better.. Good example was Columbia Falls FiberBoard/Glue Spur, say you have a long train coming from whitefish direction onto the spur, setting a reverse near CF Plywood Spur you are now backing up into Fiberboard spur.. Good. Cars dropped off.. You want to pull back out just far enuff to go down the glue spur and drop off some cars, but if there is another switch inbetween that glur spur and your reverse point which in this cause in that switch that bring you in off the main line, that switch to the glue spur will NOT be thrown.. Have a feeling this maybe a bug in the AI dispatcher.. Perhaps he's cornfused because your on a switch when you hit the reverse spot.. Clear? Clear as mud? :')
