Aug-25-01, 02:08 PM (EST) "Setting arrival AND departure times manually can be done!" Yes! It can be done! Don't ask me why but here is how it works:
1. Define your 'player' (or traffic) path
2. Click on 'edit timetable'; all times are now zero dot zero dot zero.
3. Click on cell of the arrival time for one of the stations. Now enter the time that you mean to DEPART. Arrival and departure time is changed to the same time (the one you just entered)
4. Now click on the same cell again. This time enter the time you mean to ARRIVE. Voila! This time only the arrival time is changed...It looks like the departure time will change to avoid inconsistencies when you enter an arrival time that is later than the present departure time. So by using the above as a workaround you can actually set both! Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 05:43 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Setting arrival AND departure times manually can be done!" Brilliant! Thanks for that, I always felt that not being to edit departure times was a real shortcoming. I mean, in real life, a trains waiting time at a platform depends on the timetable...they don't just set off when everyone's on, do they? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 04:53 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Setting arrival AND departure times manually can be done!" In real life they usually depart upon receiving the"highball" which is usally a signal via the conductor to the engineer when the train is set for departure. On New Jersey Transit there is are buttons located between cars that the conductor pushes when "All Clear". A buzzer within the cab is sounded.
In MSTS if there is no message "Clear to Proceed" you wait until the last passenger is loaded or, if early, at the schedule departure time.Alex

Aug-27-01, 01:59 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Setting arrival AND departure times manually can be done!" If you will notice in prototype timetables, there is only one time shown. For all stations except the last station the time shown is the departure time. The time shown for the last station on the timetable is the arrival time. On the prototype, trains must not depart early, but can, and often do, arrive early.Bob Lloyd
