You have to couple certain cars to you loc to activate this action

>location"
With this one just must make a certain consist (by picking up and dropping of cars) and bring it to a certain siding to activate this action> "reach speed"
Reach a certain speed to activate this actionKeep in mind that you sometimes have to combine them with other actions to get them to make sense. You could for instance have two location events that first switch on and later switch off the 'reach speed' action. The read speed action could then deactivate the 'succesfull completion' event. Like this you can handle 'speeding' in a specific part of the track.>2. anything to do with "broken
>points" Has no obvious function as far as I know. It can happen when you change a route in the route editor that a path in the activity editor becomes invalid. This is probably used to be able to repair it without crashing the editor.>

>path"
I experimented a bit with it but didn't find out what it does. What it certainly does is make the activity editor highly unstable. Also I haven't found any 'passing paths' in the MSTS boxed activities. So I guess this is unfinished functionality...
The same goes for waiting points.. They dont seem to work and the boxed activities don't use them... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-22-01, 10:06 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Activity Editor WHATS IT DO'S??????" Here's my take on the purpose of the "Broken" button.Sometimes a path file will get corrupted (because of a bug in the path calculation code?).
The editor will mark a path as broken once you try to reload, or re-edit, the path and you will get an error message that the path is broken. The error is not fatal and the program will continue. So, you have loaded a 'broken' path, now in order to fix it, click on the "Broken" button. A red line will be drawn connecting the start- and end-points. Remove the start-point, then re-enter the path. Remember to re-insert the service into the traffic pattern because it gets removed if the path is broken. It may be possible to deliberately break a path by inching an end-point closer and closer to a dispatcher-controlled switch -- at least, that's how it happened to me, but it may be more complicated than that. By the way: if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it! I have a suspicion that clicking "Broken" when the path is actually okay might do more than corrupt the path.
