Aug-11-01, 09:40 AM (EST) "Manual Signals" This must be simple, but how do I make an activity with manual switching, using the Activity Editor? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-11-01, 12:58 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Manual Signals" It's decided within the route-editor which switches are manual and which are dispatcher controlled. When driving around you can see it as well, the manual switches have a rod next to it, that will no doubt be meant to throw the switch.
During an activity (other than the Explore mode) the driver can only control the manual switches, the other ones are controlled automatically (the switch according to the 'Player path')A problem is that some switches are not manual while they should be, for instance on the Kalispell branch. This might hinder your activity design. You can change it in the route editor but it's a tricky job AND it will make the activities work for you but not for others you send it to..Frank. "RE: Manual Signals" Also, I put together some maps (look in the files library for MarMaps.zip) that indicate which switches are manual and which are automatic (i.e. sim controlled). Or look on my webpage at www.geocities.com/djaquay/trains.htm.In the activity editor, you need to look into the events, and set up some action events. Look in the help file for more info on that, but basically, you want some activity events that indicate what cars you want to setout at what sidings, and what cars you want to pick up. These events will/should tie into another event that indicates when the activity will end successfully (and maybe another event that would indicate failure, i.e. passing your final destination without doing the work required). It will probably help to write out longhand what you want to do in the activity and then put the activity together to accomplish it.HTH,
Dave
