Aug-08-01, 07:31 AM (EST) "Yard designs" I just like yards. I think they're cool and have tried my hand at laying track. After much effort I discovered that its best (for newbies) to modify an existing stretch of track that is on flat ground which extends to the left and right of the mainline, so you have plenty of room to expand, and don't have to tweak the track to much re: elevation mismatch. My ultimate goal is to create a working hump. (I used to watch one in action when I was a kid living in Winipeg, Canada).I know about the problems of importing other routes but I am interested in exchanging the files modified to see what other people have done. There is a cool program that lets you easily backup your work by identifying the files modified, and just saving them. The resulting size of the package is not that big. When I learn how to upload a jpg I will (most humbly) post a few of my efforts but I fear they will pale in comparison to what others have done. (LOL)As this is my first post, I want to thank all those who have contributed even the smallest bit of info. Can't tell you how many times that saved my A__! And especially I want to thank the guys who came out with the SW1200's and SW9's. My favorite engines.Regards to all,
Paul Remis

Aug-08-01, 04:40 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Yard designs" I too am a newbie and find myself wishing for someone to come up with a hump yard activity. It's a good idea and it would seem to offer some very challenging scenarios. I've always found yard work (except my front yard) very interesting and fun and have always included a yard in my Model Railroad. A model hump always seemed unobtainable, could some enterprising souls come up with one for MSTS?I, too, would like to express my undying gratitude to all those contributors who share their expertise and knowledge to make a good sim a GREAT sim.THANKS GUYS! TM
