Aug-07-01, 06:43 PM (EST) "Dowloading From Trainsim" I was in the middle of a an activity Download when I was "cut off" by the server. I have been unable to get past the screen before the downloads. When I "agree" to the disclaimer and go to the download, any one,the site becomes unvailable and suggests you go to Flt Sim. It is not my server because I can download from any other Web site.Alex

Aug-10-01, 07:35 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Dowloading From Trainsim" LAST EDITED ON Aug-10-01 AT 07:46 AM (EST)I have the same problem with earthlink. I have about 8 access numbers and have to repeatedly switch between them depending on the time of day, and I changed to four different locations before I was able to successfully download the hoboken route last night. I have some meltdown problems with my mailbox, which worked ok until a few weeks ago, except that I couldn't receive jpeg attachments. There tech support people, being nothing more than minimum wage little old ladies and foreign exchange students who know nothing about computers, are totally useless. I began to suspect this when I received the fourth similar sounding reply to my email question that they were doing nothing more than entering keywords into a troubleshooting "wizard" and mailing back the canned replies. Time to change ISP's, there are a lot of them out there. I append the last email message I was able to send before my mailbox melted down altogether:Original Message Follows:

First off I'm getting really tired of getting disconnected when I'm downloading large files or typing something online. Can't you program your sites so they don't expect somebody to be flipping thru web pages every 10 seconds? I ALWAYS disconnect when I'm done, so I don't need that. Secondly, on this jpg issue, you people are NOT GETTING THIS! I have a half a
dozen graphics programs ALL of which are perfectly happy to open ANY legitimate JPG file. The problem is I"M NOT GETTING JPG FILES! When someone sends me a jpg file as an attachment, IT IS ARRIVING AS A TEXT FILE! Changing the extension from TXT to JPG doesn't help either, because ALL the image programs that I can open other jpg files, including downloaded from the web, say it is NOT a valid image file. I can't believe you are not getting this - it is something wrong with the mailbox. There are a lot of ISP's out there, and I changed to yours because I was dissatisfied with the previous one, but you could be past tense as well. Reply

I suspect some ignoramus at their server is opening the jpg's in notepad or something, saving it as a text file, and then sending it on to my mailbox. But the replys before this one were going at it from the same angle, they wanted me to configure one of my viewers to VIEW jpegs that I wasn't receiving in the first place.

Aug-10-01, 02:45 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Dowloading From Trainsim" Sniper,
I have U.S.Inernet/Onemain.com/Earthlink via mergers. Tech dept seems useless. However, my problem developed about the same time as the virus alert. Later that same night, I finished what I had started and have had no more problemssince then.Alex
