Aug-01-01, 10:35 AM (EST) "Losing action events" After reading the past few weeks postings, and mustering up some courage, I played last night with creating my first activity. And true to expectations, I encountered some problems. One of these was to not be able to display the action event list in the appropriate dialog, but I may have found a workaround to the problem that doesn't require a reinstall. Here's what I did:I had created a new activity on Marias pass, and created a path running from Whitefish to Columbia Falls w/two engines and two boxcars, setting the boxes out, and tying up the engines at the CF yard. I reversed the path to get into the siding and back out, and reversed again to get into the desired yard siding.I then setup a location event to end the activity when the engines got to CF yard, and set an action event to indicate which boxes to setout at which siding. After saving the activity and testing it out in the sim, I found a couple of things I wanted to change, so I reloaded the activity. After looking things over, I decided I didn't like my path, and followed the help file's instructions to delete the path and recreate it. Almost immediately following deleting the path, I discovered that the action events weren't displaying. Argh, now I get to reinstall, I thought, thinking of the postings I had read. But I thought to just bail out of the activity editor without saving and reload my activity. No luck, so I deleted all of the events and my new path, and the action events came back.My thinking, which will take some more experimenting, is that the action events go away when there are existing action events that reference a path that has been deleted, and that by removing the action events that use a path before deleting that path, this might be prevented. I'd be interested in hearing how other people have caused their event list to go away, and if such judicious editing will cause it to come back.Anyway, hope this helps somebody,
Dave

If you have switching activities (picking up and/or setting out), try those out, too. Make sure everything works the way you want it to, then create your events.Bob Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
