I have an activity where I couple to a loose consist take it to tehachapi and drop it off and reverse onto a siding and head back down the pass, but when I get to the reverse point instead of triping it it acts like my train is pushing it
It needs to be placed so the player consist is clear of any nodes before it is "tripped". If there are multiple nodes involved it is more difficult to find the "right place".Regards,Eric
Hi Youngorn! I just had some posts about reverse points that a couple of people helped me out with, and I found a couple of tricks to check the placement of the RP. When you open the activity (in AE) and you see your loose consist that your engine couples onto, manually move (temporarily) the loose consist to the spot you are placing the RP. That will give you a general idea where to place the RP. Keep in mind to add the length of the engine(s). The whole train has to pass the switch for the RP to activate. (See Rich Garber's guide to Activity creating). Another way is to run the "VCR" display tool, but this usually works with a train that is already assembled, rather than a train about to be assembled. (coupling onto a loose consist) I hope this helps.FrankG NJ MSTS Routes: 1) Marias Pass 3.1 2) Whitefish 4 3) Canton/Suddenly 4) Lehigh Valley 5) Newark & Jersey City 6) Ohio Rail
You can actually take this a step further. Conbuilder and Activity Editor seem to co-eisit quite well (at least on my system, which is an early marque Xenon and about to be replaced). when placing a reverse point as you describe, I click on Conbuilder, build the actual consist involved at that point, click back to AE, place a loose consist, the one I just created, and drag it along the track until its clear of the node. From there I move the whole screen until the point where I want the RP (I use about a half of the end car's length beyound the end of the consist) is on the very edge (no matter which edge)of the screen. Go into service and edith the path and drop the RP right where the track reaches the edge of the screen. Leave the path editor and check the placement, if possible (if the path later goes over the same point it isn't) and delete the consist. I always use the same name for the consist so I know what I'm placing and I'm not building up a bunch of extra consists in the consist folder that are not used in any service.Brad Meyer
