Hi Bob; Completed Part 1 okay. Excellent activity. However, my Part 2 starts with the player train at Oakridge, same as part 3. The Activity description is correct for Part 2, but the Player Train should be on SP Yard track 2 at Eugene.I've d/led and installed part 2 twice, and the problem persists. Is my installation flawed, or does Part 2 require a fix.Cheers; Chuck F.

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

I've got the same problem. The activity instructions (F11) are for a train in Eugene, but the train is definetly in Oakridge.

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

I have just completed the first activity, although I did not receive a message to that effect (was I supposed to?).
There were a few typos on the work order (more cars indicated on the work order than actually in the yard). So, anyone running this activity should be aware of these discrepancies.
Otherwise a good switching activity.

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

Hi Bob; Thanks for the reply, but I don't understand your answer. It is Part 2 that requires the new path. It appears that in the original d/l, Part 2 is using Part 3's path.Cheers; Chuck F.

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

Here are the files you need for Part 2. Any one know why MSTS keeps switching paths for me, and why even the path will be played different from what it appears in the AE? It seems like MSTS has a mind of its own in juggling paths that have nearly the same name--i.e., OREGON CORP LUMBER Part3 and OREGON CORP LUMBER Part2. I have never used anything but part2 path with part2 activity and the same for part3, but I keep getting interchanges. I have also had problems with the player train trying to take the Pryor passing siding in part3 when its path in the AE is for the mainline and I do not use passing alternatives. It may be that I need to reinstall MSTS. I could say a few things I feel about Microsoft for not coming out with version 2, but that would do no good. Thanks for your help and understanding.Bob Edwards

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

Chuck and all others having problems with Part2 Activity:The easiest way to solve your problem with the Part2 path is to open the Oregon CORP Lumber Part2.act file in the route/Willamette Pass/Activities folder using WordPad (you can right click on the file name and choose "Open With" and then pick Wordpad) and then down at the PathID line simply change the number 3 to number 2 and then save the file. I strongly suggest that once you have made that change that after you save the file that you right click on the Oregon CORP Lumber Part2.act filename and then go down to Properties and then select "Read Only" to prevent your computer from swaping out the path names. I don't know why MSTS is doing this other than the path names are long and have only the numbers being different. However, I know that my computer has done this several times and I think it is happening to others as well.I hope this resolves any issues. In case you have Parts 3 or 4 coming up with the wrong path, you can do the same thing to correct them since you have all the paths. If this doesn't work for you send me an email and I will send you the files that are now locked to prevent changes. Sorry for the delay but I was out campaining all day yesterday--some things are more important than MSTS.Bob Edwards

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

Hi Bob; If this is the error, then I think the problem exsists at your end.My copy of Oregon Corp Lumber .act has the Name ( "Oregon Corp Lumber Part 2" } PathID ( "Oregon Corp Lumber Part2" ) Player Service (" Oregon Corp Lumber Part2" ) and yet the path point starts at Oakridge.I think the Part 2 act in the library needs a fix, or completely replaced. Thanks for your help, and I hope the campaining went well for you. Yes, there are a few things more important than MSTS!.Cheers; Chuck F.

" I have also had problems with the player train trying to take the Pryor passing siding in part3 when its path in the AE is for the mainline and I do not use passing alternatives."Bob, this won't help much, but don't feel alone. I've had this happen quite a few times, although with mine I think I 'may have' narrowed it down to possibly a large loop that affects the path occasionally. However, it doesn't do it all the time, but more random in nature and only happens when the timing gets a bit off and things aren't going exactly as planned, or the activity is extremely complicated. Seems like MSTS gets easily confused when it's not a simple A to B run.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

The player info at the beginning of the .act file is only used by the activity to list the info on the activity screen, it is not used to run the activity. The player service file is used to select the actual path used in the activity. I think you will find the player service uses the part three path. The service needs to be edited to use the correct path.Regards,Eric

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

Eric,Thanks for the heads up on the service file. You were right on--can anyone tell me why the service file keeps getting shifted as far as the path is concerned. I also noticed that I do not have a service file for Parts 1 and 3--why does MSTS create service files for some activities and not others? Also, while were on to service files which seem to be pretty self-explanatory with the exception of the serial line, can anyone tell me what the serial line indicates? I am trying to see if I can create a service file for Parts 1 and 3 and see if the serial number means anything or not. I am sure it must mean something.Bob

RE: Oregon Corp Lumber

MSTS does not create the service file you create it in the editor. When you change a service file it changes in every activity that uses it.When you edit any of the files in the sim that have a serial line (.svc, .con, .pat, .trf, .tdb, .act, etc) the serial number is incremented. The sim uses this to check to see if any changes have been made to any of the files in an activity that has been saved. If it detects any changes it won't load the save. Also when you unpack an activity using TSunpack the serial number in the .tdb file is checked and will produce a warning if the serial doesn't match the serial of the .tdb the activity was created with.Regards,Eric
