Activity Editor crashes! WinXP SP2 problem? – image 1

Hi!I have a really strange problem with the activity editor! Everytime I have a placed static consist in north/south direction the editor hangs up by zooming in/out the window. Same thing, when I first zoom in (far away from any consists!), and then move near a placed consist. If I remove these static consists the editor works fine. Tried it with several routes. I guess the problem occurs since I installed SP2 on my WinXP. I know there's another guy with the same problem in Germany, but we found no solution yet. I removed MSTS and installed it new with all updates, tried different graphic card drivers, etc... I have all WinXP Updates installed on my computer! But I don't know! It always appears the send/don't send message!And.... Does the activity for Cajon Pass "Mojave_WestColton.act" work? Thing it depends on that problem. I can't open this activity anymore! Activity editor hangs up! I installed the latest patch for the route... Is there anybody who has the same problem or maybe figured it out? Please help! Thank you!

I'm having the same problem. But I don't have SP2 installed yet.I did however recently upgrade my Conbuilder to ver.2.0.1 and then to 2.2.8.Maybe Conbuilder is the problem?

And the only other changes to my system prior to this problem are updating my NVidia drivers from 61.77 to 66.81 and I reinstalled Sandpatch.

And another interesting thing is that it doesn't always crash right away.Sometimes you could get in a few minutes worth of work. And it's not always zooming that causes the crash.Sometimes just dragging the map around with the mouse will cause a crash.

RE: Activity Editor crashes!!!!! WinXP SP2 problem???

NVidia recommend not upgrading drivers unless your system is suffering the exact problem the upgrade is designed to cure. MSTS is old in programming terms, and state-of-the-art drivers can upset it. Try going back to the old drivers. My setup running XP-SP2 has no problems - well, not trainsim related, anyway...

I'll try going back to the 61.77's.But I doubt that's it.And,although I'm not running SP2,I am running DX 9C.

It seems that the 66.81 drivers were the problem.Went back to 61.77 and all is well.

I solved the problem in my case somehow. Reinstalled my Nvidia Omega driver 61.77 and after that everything works fine again. Another guy gave me the advice to go back to ver. 61.77 or earlier. Think the new drivers cause these problems... This was my experience so far.RegardsTom

Conbuilder itself has absolutely nothing to do with the AE. You might try to remove all of the AE keys from the registry by using my little AEfix tool available in the library here.

I figured that Conbuilder was a long shot as the cause. It was just the most recent change to my system at the time.I'm a bit concerned about driver issues with MSTS though. It's possible that drivers will kill MSTS for some of us in the near future. But the again the 66.81's caused other "wackiness".

RE: Activity Editor crashes!!!!! WinXP SP2 problem???

Had a problem just like this - every time I placed a consist, it'd crash. Started happening after I upgraded to Nvidia 66.93's for a different app. Found that at my usual settings (1280x1024x32), I'd get crashes, but changing to 16 bit color allows the activity editor to function normally.
