I've tried to run this activity and MSTS crashes to desktop with the send/don't send message . I'm not getting any errors on loading . Have checked the activitiy in both RR , and TS and they both say activity is fine . I've messed with my environmental settings and it still locks up and crashes MSTS . I've run other activities on the same route "Casscade Crossing" at same location "Oakridge" with same Environmental settings "as called out for in the Heavy Haul 3 Activity" I run all the time without any problems loading or running them .I've reloaded the activity package a dozen times and still the same problem , I get as far as the Cabview/F11 view prior to start of activity , and BOOM ! send/don't send . Any help would be most appreciated . Archer01

Archer how many routes do you have installed? It's sounds as if you're reaching the max number for consist that MSTS can handle. You may want to look at installing train store which will move all routes and consists that aren't being used to a different folder. This helps MSTS to loader faster and may take care of the problem that you're having. You can do a search in the files library to find it.Claude Debnam NS Piedmont Division Raleigh EastCC Heavy Haul 3 crashing MSTS at startup ? – image 1

Yup I know about Train Store . That is what TS stands for in my original post , the RR is for Route Riter . heheI load all activities into MSTS from Train Store , so only the Heavy Haul Activity , and it's .con's were loaded . Thanks for the responce . Archer01

Won't make any difference if you store all but this one, it still will either lockup like that or if you are lucky, will make it to the first light. There is a big dicussion over at mapleleaf about this one.

RE: CC Heavy Haul 3 crashing MSTS at startup ?

Archer,I have CC Heavy Haul 3 running on my system. Currently I'm about 20 minutes into the activity and everything is fine. The only problem I saw during the installation process was a sound file that wasn't properly aliased for the CSX SD70. Normally this type of problem is reported while MSTS is loading. However, in my experience I have seen the game lock-up and then arrive at the send/don't send message with no clue as to what was wrong. Hope that this helps.AL

RE: CC Heavy Haul 3 crashing MSTS at startup ?

I don't have Cascades so I can only speculate based on the name "Heavy Haul".Were they aware of the "too many .eng/.wag files" limit? I had the same trouble with PO&N8, couldn't start an activity in the Fowlis - Stevens Point area until I reduced the number of loose consists in that section, and increased the interval between AI trains to 12 minutes. Trouble is MSTS has a limited size page file, so no matter how much RAM you have it will only load X number of .eng and/or .wag files at one time. How many is "X" I dunno, about 100, but when I went over the number I got "failed to create SMS object", "Error inserting/removing AI service (whatever) from world", and disappearing scenery objects after driving for an hour or two. In some cases it wouldn't start at all, just send/don't send, so I moved all the loose consists in that area to the other side of the route, then it would start - but after driving across to the now overloaded side of the route I got some combination of the three aforementioned errors. Reducing the visibility slider sometimes helps if you're on the borderline, but a quick way to test is to clone the activity, delete most of the loose consists in the starting area, and try that.
