Hi everybodyIm trying to create an activity for the Whitefish 5 route and was wondering if my idea can be executed on AE. Now at Sandpoint yard there is this place where the UP and BNSF tracks cross each other(between MP 65 & 66 on the UP track). There are no signals regulating this crossing and after doing some research on the internet i found out that when a train approaches this crossing the crew is supposed to radio to the dispatcher and ask for clearance. Now i was wondering if this could be simulated on AE. This is the scenario1. the AI BNSF train will reach the crossing at say 12:00 and take 45 secs to clear the crossing i.e at 12:00:452. if the players train reaches a point on the tracks(say 2 miles away from the crossing ) before 11:55 a dialogue box pops up asking him to proceed OR if the player reaches the same point after 11:55 but before 12:00:45 he is asked to slow down and stop before the crossing OR if the player reaches the point after 12:00:45 no dialogue box pops up.Although i know my way around AE im still not very good at it. Can someone help me out in doing this or tell me if this is possible at all or not? Thanks in advance for all the helpUpamanyu

Then timed events to lower/raise the activation levels of the other two (location and timed events both) as needed. Finally at 12:00:45 a timed event to turn the others off (decrease activation by one)Much harder to explain than to actually do. Make a small flow chart, experiment and it can be done. Hope this helps a little.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com
I have looked at this as well. Does anyone know if there is some sort of sign at this location. Something like "Stop and contact despatcher before proceeding". I have been working on the idea of creating a sign that is actually a signal. It will appear on the track monitor and be permantly faulty, at red all the time. You will have to ask permission to pass by pressing the tab key. The sign will be static, have no aspects displayed.AndyUK"Standing by our friends"
Andy, strictly from the activity angle, something like this would not work for the following reason. Adding anything of this nature after the fact would change the tdb plus a couple of other files and when you sent your activity out, nothing would work due to the changes incurred. You would have to zip and upload all changed files, everyone else would have to download them to keep the basic files the same.It would be much easier to simply do it by using matched location/timed/action events .. this way all could use it.If you are doing it strictly for yourself to not be shared, anything goes and I'm sure you could fix something up, although I have no suggestions for that.RobertR .. I totally agree with you Robert. Besides I don't like changing other peoples routes without telling them. The idea was for a North East shortline route I have been thinking about. I was going to make it with no signals except for the interchange track. At loops along the line, you would have to stop and ask permission to proceed to the next section.I have got to find some use for my Guilford Geep.Andy K
