Even after following the instructions in the "Step by Step Guide" I still can not get this simple activity to work properly.The activity is to drop off some cars at the West Coram siding and to display a message when this is accomplished. I initially set up the Activation Event and the Location Event as follows:Activation Events Properties Action0: Drop off 5 specified cars at West Coram siding. Outcome: Increase an events activation by one. Event: Location4Location Events Properties (Location4) Activation level: 0 Outcome: Display a messageIt is my understanding that by initially setting the Location Events Activation Level to 0 the message should not be displayed until Action0 is completed and the Activation Level is increased by 1. (0+1=1). However the message is displayed the first time that the train passes over Location Event4 (before the cars are dropped off} as if the the Location Events Activation Level is already 1.If I can't understand why this is happening I can not go ahead and create more meaningful activities. Help is appreciated. Thanks.
You can use the drop off at location event to display the message. The message will display when the cars to be dropped off are in the siding.It may be that you are activating the drop off event without realizing it. The cars don't have to be uncoupled to activate it.If you want send me to activity, I'll look at it.Regards,Eric butter.cup@mindspring.com
Eric: Thanks for your reply. I was not aware that the cars do not have to be uncoupled for the event to be accomplished. Evidently just backing into the siding to uncouple the cars will be considered as completing the event. I placed the location event on the siding thinking that crossing over it the first time (when backing up) would not trigger the message however passing over it again in the forward direction (after uncoupling the cars) would cause the message to be displayed. I will try to work this criteria into the activity and see where I get to. Thanks again.
