Thought I would just post a shot of the activity that will be avalible to you tomorow (Sunday) You start with your two SD40-2`s and pick-up three cuts of cars and put them on the Eastbound siding. It takes about 30 minutes to complete and uses only five different add-ons. One is the Cajon Pass though. There is two peices of traffic that go past the yard too. One is a empty coal train and the other is a tanker train. Tell me if you think this activity is worth uploading.

Ya, I didn`t do a good job on the readme file. I thought I was done with it and it turned out I wasn`t. But what did you think of it?

RE: Cumberland Yard Duty

Hi AndyAside from not actually specifying the Route used, you also failed to note it also requires cars from the Cajon Pass route. Please (for all activity writers) use either all MSTS default or default equipment for the actual route when writing activities. If you wish, you could include custom consists for those who wish to go beyond defaults.A lot of people do not wish to find and install extra equipment or in this case need to buy another route just to run an activity.I do have Sandpatch which is why I decided to see if your activity was for this route but I'm not about to go out and buy Cajon Pass just to try out your activity. Please do read this as a suggestion for future activities rather than as criticism. I know the difficulties in writing an activity and when I write one, I try to stay with defaults as much as possible to make it a simple download, install and run. The problem with installing an activity with missing equipment is under some conditions, MSTS sometimes will want to write a note to Uncle Billy or do other strange things. Thanks for listening

RE: Cumberland Yard Duty

I'm assuming you're referring to me as DudeThe missing information I mentioned is not available until after the activity is downloaded. The ReadMe file does contain the info but it is IN the zipped file rather than mentioned in the description that we can read before deciding to download or not.GaryG

RE: Cumberland Yard Duty

Hi FrankIf you read #6, I wasn't objecting to the actual download, I was considering all those who might download, install the activity then find all the missing equipment. With MSTS being as flaky as it can be sometimes, we don't want missing equipment for it to complain about. I bet there are fewer than 15% of MSTS users who could successfully remove an activity and its associated paths, services, etc after it has been installed. Where does that leave those who installed it?Additionally, there have been quite a few cases there locos and cars have been removed from libraries due to their creators becoming annoyed over some issues. It is their right to do so, it was their creation. Now we have activities with equipment needed that is no longer available. This is why I stand on the "Please use default equipment only" soapbox.Dave, all is ok.GaryG

RE: Cumberland Yard Duty

I think that is half the fun, searching for the downloads, installing them and working properly. It sure helped me getting a better perspective of how MSTS works.
