Well, I created an activity for KHP2 that involves an extra intermodel train that you pick up a Field and take it all the way across the route. It seemed pretty good until 2 1/2 hours in.Anyway, can you guys help me figure out what happened?-Dave
HiWhat Happened is not much of a description when you're asking for help!I'm going to assume it's the Emergency Brake application that you're asking for help with. There are two ways I know of where they will apply. The first is pressing the Backspace key. The second is not resetting the Vigilance system in time. I am going to make one more assumption - you're using KHPass2 locos so there is no Vigilance system defined which narrows it down to the Backspace key probably got pressed. In the future, please give enough details so we don't need to assume everything to try to help.GaryG
If it's the Emergency Brake application as Gary says above that you are questioning, one other thing to trigger the Emergency Brake on many engines is overspeed. 5mph over the limit and Slam (sometimes less, sometimes more depending on the .eng file specs) RobertR .. RE: ARRRRRRRGGHHH!!!!!!
Sorry about being unclear with my question. What I was really asking was how did it happen that two trains were on the same single track? I had just passed the passing siding at Exshaw with high greens. The emergency brake application was me. I hit the Backspace key as soon as I saw the train on the same track, witch was obviously too late.-Dave
Ok, so we guessed wrong.Where did you start the AI? If you stated it anywhere East of the Canmore Eastbound signal, there's no way to hold that AI back. Even though there is a siding/passing at Gap, it's not a CTC controlled siding and this must be considered as a single track section when AI's are involved. If you had reversed your train and moved Eastbound after the AI had started, the AI gets the ok to start. No easy way to fix this one other than choosing a later start time for the AI. There is a way to get around this but it requires placing AI trains you never see running slowly in the same direction you're running and should only be tried after you have a fair amount of activity building/fighting experience.GaryG
Gary, Dave .. I don't have KHP2, but if it's a standard passing siding and both trains will fit, even with no signalling, could a person possibly use double reverse points to give the permission back to the player? I've used that on a couple of dark routes and has worked fairly well.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com
Hi DaveI've looked for where your "Meet" occurred and as near as I can figure, you were a bit West of the MP 51.50 signals and the picture was looking Westbound. If so, did you start the AI East of the West Ozada signal? What might have gotten you into trouble here is the Start Point is the starting location of the rear of the train, not the locos. Is it possible that with the length of the AI that the loco was already past the Ozada West Absolute? If it was, there was nothing to hold it back. You can watch for this in VCR mode if you run it to the start time of that AI and as soon as that AI appears, zoom in and see where the front end is. You may need to shorten that train because we don't have the full siding length there to start in.In my previous note I was assuming you were Westbound but rereading pointed out the Field departure. Suggestion for future debug snapshots, turn on the F4 helper as well as the "0" key to enable Lat/Lon and direction. I'm guessing now that MSTS had already switched to the collision camera and the headlight we could see was your loco and the loco nearer to the camera was the AI and not part of your train.GaryG

>Hi Dave > >I've looked for where your "Meet" occurred and as near as I >can figure, you were a bit West of the MP 51.50 signals and >the picture was looking Westbound. Yes, You got it. It was about 0.2 miles before there. I saw that on the Track Moniter. I was slowing down because at the previous siginal at MP 53.50 I got an Aproach, and was restricted to 40mph. The siginal was Restricting at MP. 50.50, so I was doing about 25-30 at the crash time >If so, did you start the AI East of the West Ozada signal? >What might have gotten you into trouble here is the Start >Point is the starting location of the rear of the train, not >the locos. Yep, Its well into the main by then>In my previous note I was assuming you were Westbound but >rereading pointed out the Field departure. Yes, I was Eastbound and the AI was at the bottom to the screen. So, it must have been that I was so far a head of what the AE predicted me to be at, The AI didn't make it to the siding in time. The AE had the AI train in the hole about 10-15 minutes before I got there. Thanks Gary,-Dave
