Hi All,I have been doing some research on how to make the station arrival/departure time in relation to the load time more realistic. I found one thread that gave me the information i needed to create better passenger activities. wanted to pass this along hoping it may be helpful.the formula is this -number of passengers divided by number of passenger cars times 10 seconds equals load time.for example: 175 passengers, 7 cars, equals a load time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds.while making the activity, go to the station delimiter your route runs over, right click, left click on "properties" there u change the number of passengers.ok, when you run the activity, you need to make sure the passenger cars stop between the station's delimiters or the load time will be different.here is an example of what the work sheet looks like:i have a lot of fun building passenger activities where I control the number of passengers that get, which gives me control of the load time, thus the arrival time the departure time and load times are in real good harmony.enjoy
You can also simply force the arrive and start time to the values you want, and check that the amount of passengers selected gives a load/unload time that is less than the difference between start time and arrive time. This gives you the advantage that you can force arrive and start both to full minutes as anywhere in the world (except Japan, I guess). Your suggestion is indeed OK for AI trains. I had anyhow the impression that the amount of passengers loading/unloading per second per wagon differs from wagon type to wagon type.Carlo
the wagon type is not a factor. msts just looks to see if it is a passenger car regardless of the make, model or year. the loading factor is all the same, 1 car 1 passenger 10 seconds/passenger. so with 7 passenger cars, you will know that 7 passengers will load every 10 seconds.making the arr/dep time anything you want is a simple operation done by simply typing in the so-called arrival time twice in the AE or by doing it in the act file, after putting in the times manually, dont hit the "recalculate button". msts will save your arr/dep time independent of the load time. you can also change the number of passengers so that you get a whole number for the load time. for example, if you have 4 passenger cars and you want the loading to go for 1 minute, simply have 24 passengers at the station. 24/4 * 10 seconds = 1 minute.the excel sheet i have most of the work is automated.thanks for your comments.SkyRat
