I have seen this check box and I know basically what it does. Does anyone know when making a path for AI traffic if checking this box either way does anything? Everyone knows sometimes when the player path and AI traffic paths are all set up for the optional passing path - standoffs still happens. Does this check box help if it is checked or not with AI paths?
Thanks

RE: player drivable path

LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-04 AT 12:57 PM (EDT)

I remember reading many folks' postings from between one or two years ago recommending the player-drivable checkbox be filled in for all trains. Check the archives. My recollections of all the authors' claims amount to that, supposedly, assigning the player-drivable category to a path improves dispatcher's performance at routing paths, especially whereat paths merge or diverge, or even intersect, I guess. What I find peculiar about the box is that it doesn't appear to be in the least bit accounted for within the path file, for if anybody were to open up a path file in Wordpad and review/scour its contents, I don't think s/he would find it her/himself.Well, I recently ventured to refrain from activating the checkbox to the multitude of traffic paths that I created for a test activity in follow-up to my having just recently signalized 10 miles' worth of sometimes eight-, sometimes ten-tracking right of way, and its couple of diverging and converging branch lines. The ten miles' worth of broad right of way are at the London end of my network, and in itself this stretch contains three full-interchange junctions each direction, along with a few partial-interchange junctions for each direction strung along it here and there. My trains functioned perfectly (it was such a thrill to see my ultimate design from nearly two years ago pan out as far as the overal operating capability goes for this stretch of network without having to tweak any of its layout !!).So I myself am wondering why we simmers had ventured to always activating the checkbox over not doing so regardless the type of service being established.Cheers,
