I downloaded Ed Cook's D&H Bridge Route Coal Train activity. I didn't have the Southern Pacific Heritage package so I went through the .con and .act files and replaced all the Southern Pacific engines with similar engines which I did have. After checking the activity with RouteRitter, I activated it and started to play. I saved at various points and re-activated a saved game near the beginning where I was not able to stop in time at a reverse point close to a red signal. A little further into the game I had my computer hang while going over a section of track in the B&H yard where the track did not seem to be lined up properly. When I tried to restore my saved games, I found that either the computer would hang immediately upon restoration or would give me a long list of .eng and .wag files which it claimed it could not find. Most of the files that it could not find were cases where the file name was something like D&H_SD40_461 and it was looking for D&H SD40 461 which was in the 'Name' field of the .eng file. I finally found that I could run the activity by altering the route through the B&H yard and also removing alot of the loose consists which were in the yards. My basic question is whether anyone else has seen similar problems with this, admittly altered, activity and does anyone know the cause. I suspect that the number of loose consists (which were great) may have overloaded something, but does anyone have a more informed opinion.Bob

RE: Bridge Route Coal Train Activity

Bob,I design activities where there are a lot of AI's at a single point and I get the same symptoms as you (saved games crash, can't find wags messages, sometimes crash on their own). This would only hapeen if there was a huge density of wags and engines (i.e. trains) in the vicinity. It seems that MSTS can only handle a certain amount of engines and rolling stock at a time in an area. When that limit is reached, these sort of breakdowns start to occur. Removing the loose consists was the right remedy (that I know of right now).Steve
