Hello, editors, I've made my first activity, but I'm having trouble placing the player consist at the exact starting point that I want, which is at a platform in Carlisle (Settle & Carlisle route). In Activity Editor, I try to place my starting point right at the end of the line (there's a buffer at the end of the platform), but when I play the activity, it always starts me with my train just beyond the platform, not beside it. Is there a trick to placing your start point exactly where you want it?
You can select the buffer (i.e., black dot on the AE v.c.r map), then right-click selecting 'join route'. It seems like you might have selected 'placed start point'.Be aware, though, that the sim will advance your spawned consists by a few metres -- an observation that I myself cannot explain.Cheers, goonybird
>Avoid starting (and ending) a path on the buffers...this is >known to cause signal problems...trust me!!! Hmm, okay.Another reason to avoid placement upon the buffers/ends of track is if the route were to be expanded at some point later in time, your activity wherein either ending or starting at a buffer won't readily work within the updated version of the route.Cheers, goonybird
What I do is place my start point in the general area of where my starting point should be, then use "verify starting state" to check to see exactly how my consist is positioned. Then, I go back into the path editor, and adjust as needed. Yes, I might have to do this a couple of times, or even start the path over again (if I have to cross a node), but it's the best way I've found to do it.Once I get my starting point taken care of, then I can go and finish the rest of the path.-Eric Shock
