While in Activity Editor, Location Event circles on the track diagram were not showing, and neither were static consists. Searching the message area, I came across a utility (mstsscrz) to restore AE in the registry to its original state which I used. It worked. The next time I started loading the AE however, I received an error message of "Failed Loading Activity Header" or something like it with the question of do I want to continue or not. Pressing "continue" would finish loading the AE but the moment I tried using it, it would crash with the "Send to Microsoft" error message. Nothing seemed to work to remedy the situation (including going back to an earlier "restore point" in Windows XP). Saving my Train and Route files, I then uninstalled Train Sim and re-installed it later which seemed to solve everything. I found one item about this problem in the Message Area but no real answer. Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you for any help or enlightenment.
When I have gotten that message the ae has failed to save an activity correctly leaving a empty .act file. When the ae saves an activity it apparently first deletes all the information in the .act file and then re-writes the file. If anything goes wrong you end up with an empty file. There is apparently a bug (really, a bug in msts, how unusual) in the ae in the way it saves assemble train events that can corrupt the .act files.Deleting that file makes the problem go away. The problem is not caused by mstsscrz which I have used a number of times.Regards,Eric
My experience from the empty header thang has been from failing to populate either/both the activity_brief and activity_description from the outset.Cheers, goonybird
