I have been using MSTS for about three months now and have just started trying to use other activity designers activities. I have installed Marias Pass V3.1 along with the only three patches that I could find. My problem is that when I try to use any activity with v3.1 it crashes my computer when I try to look at the "work order" page. I also notice that it is marking done next to tasks that I have not completed and not marking anything next to tasks that I have completed. It always crashes when I look at the "work order" page. When it crashes it loops the sound and the screen becomes irratic. Finally, I need to reboot my computer. This does not happen with the original Marias pass route provided with MSTS even though V3.1 is installed at the same time. Does any one have a solution?Pilot121
Maybe a silly question, but are you trying to use the regular (original) activities with MP3.1? If so, they will not work. Almost all of the originals have been reworked and are in folders underneath the activity folder if I remember correctly.About the activities being incorrectly marked done .. this is one of the vagaries of the Sim. Unless the activities are listed in reverse order by the activity maker (which usually really messes up the player) they are not marked as Done correctly, since the Sim automatically marks done from the bottom up whether it is the correct action or not. Hope this makes some sense.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com
I am not using any of the original Marias Pass Activities. I am trying to utilize the activities that came with the expansion scenery. All of the activities loaded so far have done the same thing. Some make it longer than other before they crash the system but they all have the same thing in common; they always crash when I open the window for the work order. When I return to the sim it loops the sound and the screen is erratic. Finally, it locks the entire system up. Anyone, please help. I want to utilize the new scenery and the great expansion activities to enhance my MSTS experience but I have not been able to fix this problem.
I don't have any problems with this route or its activities, so I am somewhat puzzled by your trouble. Do the explore route activities work alright? Are you getting any error messages? If you do not open the work order window do you have any problems with the activities? Let's see if we can figure this out for you.Ken
I tried the explore the route activities and performed the functions that during an activity are sure to make my computer crash and it worked just fine. There is no error message, the computer locks-up solid and the only way to get it working is to perform a hard reboot. If I do not open the work order window I think the activity would continue just fine. In the work order window the tasks are marked incorrectly. A task I have not done is marked done while the task I have done is not marked. When I return the program loops the sound and then stops. I emailed the designer of the route and he suggested increasing my sound memory allocation but this did not help. All the provided activities have the same problem. The one I test it on is Heavy Fuel Train. I usually cannot make past coupling the first or second set of cars if I look in the work order window. Any suggestions?Pilot121
