OK, I'm in a quandary here....I have a series of single-slips built from X-Tracks #6 switches and 11.3 deg crossovers.I built them in the following sequence:#6 RH switch #6 LH switch added then flipped to orient properly 11.3 crossover. The series of single-slips is the set up in a 3X3 pattern....All switches are separated on tangents by 5.5m sections both on the mainline and on the diverging route. NO switches are laid point-to-point...Three main E-W tracks with 3 diverging tracks making a matrix of 9 SS switches allowing westward trains on any of the 3 main tracks to diverge to any of the 3 diverging tracks. (This is the east entrance to St. Louis Union Station in GM&O Northern Lines v1.0)Running westbound either straight rail or diverging absolutely no problem.Running eastbound main route, no problem any track.Running eastbound leaving the station I can straight-rail or diverge on ONLY the first set of slip switches. If I go straight-rail across track #1 and try to throw either of the next two facing point switches M$TS phones home. This was a late addition to the route, the same location having been set up previously as a simple set of RH#6 (X-track) switches. Discovered this problem last night when trying to write a passenger activity departing the station heading northbound....Anyone had this problem before? Did I build the switches incorrectly?
Two images from RE below....Thoughts anyone?????#1 view is the whole plant, showing signals on both sides...#2 is a close-in view....I DID note when examining this yesterday that the usual black dot on the curved side of the slips was missing Track 2, Switches 2 and 3 and Track 3, switch 3 (tracks numbered top to bottom, switches from right to left -- westward direction)JBD
RE: Single- and Double-slip routing causes crash...
FYI: the green route comes from diverging track 2 to main track 1. Making an eastward movement from the station onto the main using this routing DOES work. Any other route taking straight rail across main 1 and attempting to converge (?) onto main 2 or main 3 will cause phone home crash....NOTE: This set of switches WAS working, IIRC, in an activity I had written with several AI trains....Suddenly started crashing on either load-up or as soon as I started to move the train. AE crashes as the player train reaches the slip switches....JBD
RE: Single- and Double-slip routing causes crash...
Hi Jim, took a look since you asked me over at the route builders forum. Don't know much about activity making and don't normally visit this forum. From what I see the slips on main #3 (and the one to the left on main #2) you have not finished the track work. I would finish the tracks onto main #4(?) and main #3 to the left or at least place some sections onto those ends to get away a little further from the slip. Could be something with the crossing and the clear distance check that MSTS does. From your pics I don't see any missing black dots either on the indictade switches or elsewhere. I do see a strange black dot on the leftmost slip on main #3. The dot just above where main #3 ends does not look to belong in that track layout. The dot for the switch is a little further up the diverging track. I would remove that slip and re-assemble it again if I were you.
