Jul-23-01, 11:06 PM (EST) "Waiting point" Does anybody know how to get an AI train to stop and wait for more than 2 seconds? I've tried inserting waiting points but when I leave the activity editor, they get reset back to zero. I've looked into all the different files generated (paths, services, activities, etc) but can't find anything that looks like a waiting point or something that has the time I inserted.
If somebody out there has gotten this to work, please share.Thanks,

"RE: Waiting point" steve, after u place the entire AI path from start to end, go to the point on that path where you want the pause, right click and choose waiting point. a box should appear asking in seconds how long you want it to pause. after typing this in and closing the box a tiny watch-hands will appear at that point.

Jul-26-01, 08:13 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Waiting point" I did that but when I exit the Activity Editor, the time changes to zero. So, when you load the run in MSTS, the AI train will come to a stop, wait for a second or two, then continue on. No matter what I do, the time always goes to zero when I exit the Activity Editor. It's like the program has the value in memory, but won't write it to the file.
Has anyone else out there got waiting points to work?

Aug-29-01, 11:02 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Waiting point" One time, I got a single AI train to stop at a waiting point for the time I specified. I'm not exactly sure how I did it, and I ended up throwing out that path because I changed the time and couldn't get it working again. I think it was something like:1. Do everything else
2. Set the waiting time
3. File->Compute and Save
4. Immediately exit the editorwhen I did that, I think, it worked when I played it. However, one must be careful - I had to reset the waiting time every time I opened the activity in the editor. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

If anyone has waiting points working properly in the simulator, please post how you did it.
I think that when we save an activity in the editor, a couple of lines refering to the waiting points was forgotten by KUJU team.
While we wait for a fix, if we know the sintaxe of this line(s) the file where they are missing and where to place them in the file it would be a great help.
PauloP.S.: I believe it is in one of the traffic files or path files. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-18-01, 03:21 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Waiting point" I've been looking into the format of the path file to a point where I -allmost- understood the format... Anyway I know now how to recognize a waiting point in it and have been playing around with the data. Without succes. It doens't look like there's any timing data in a path file. Perhaps it's possible to add an extra stop to a service-file (like a station stop) but I didn't figure out how yet. Also that wouldn't influence the behaviour of the signals. (it would be great if you could force MSTS keep the signals ahead red until you reach a certain point..) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-30-01, 08:51 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Waiting point" Hello Everyone,This issue is one that had me stump for a while, then I found this in the README.RTF (located in the Train Simulator Folder):--Waiting points for AI traffic
All the existing wait points for AI traffic have been reset to zero. If you make a change to a wait point, when the Activity is reloaded (either in the Activity Editor or the simulation), the wait time will be reset to zero again. This has an impact on existing traffic that relies on wait points.I think "chrishead" has the right idea. I've also been able to make an "AI" train wait, but I was deleting the original wait then creating a new one. Then (like chrishead), saving and exiting the editor; making that the last thing I changed. This certainly isn't a viable solution if you have lots of "AI" traffic with several waits involved.If you guys haven't already given it a look, there are several issues in that README.RTF, not covered in the MSTS Help.Hope this saves a little hair ...
