When you make an activity and you pull into a siding and let a train by you and you get a signal, will you have to run at a restricted speed or can you run wide open if you let the train get far enough ahead of you.

RE: Following A Train

Hi ssw_96This one is a loaded question. No definite yes or no. It depends on the Route and other variables. If the train that's passing you had met a Restrictive signal, it will slow to the Restricting speed and will not run at track speed again which means you'll be averaging Restrictive speed also while you're behind it.If you allow it to get enough blocks away (usually two or three depending on the route's signalling) you should get a Green and you can run at track speed but if the train you're following is running at Restrictive speed, you're going to catch up to him and you'll probably see a restrictive within a signal or two.Allowing AI trains to pass you created a few threads a while ago. If you want to read them, try looking for Double Reverse Points (DRP) as the search key or perhaps look for passing trains.GaryG
